Main characters

Tori Vega

Tori Vega (played by Victoria Justice) is a student at Hollywood Arts, a special high school for performing arts. She goes there with her older sister, Trina.

Tori ends up at Hollywood Arts because of Trina. Trina has an allergic reaction right before a big school show. Andre Harris suggests Tori take her place because Tori knows the song well. Tori performs "Make it Shine" (which is the show's theme song) and everyone is amazed! The principal offers her a spot at the school, and she accepts. At first, Tori feels a bit out of place, but she soon makes new friends and gets comfortable. The show then follows Tori's adventures and challenges with her friends at Hollywood Arts. Her teacher, Sikowitz, really likes her.

Tori is usually creative, kind, caring, and friendly. She tries to do the right thing. She cares a lot about her friends and family and is always ready to help them, even if she's not sure at first.

Tori is good friends with Andre Harris, Beck Oliver, Cat Valentine, and Robbie Shapiro. She often tries to be nice to Jade and sometimes calls Jade her friend, even though Jade doesn't always agree. Sometimes they seem to get along, but most of the time, Jade acts like Tori's "frenemy."

In later episodes, Tori sometimes wears glasses at home and uses contact lenses at school.

Andre Harris

Andre Harris (played by Leon Thomas III) is a student at Hollywood Arts and Tori's best friend. Andre loves music and performing his own songs. He can play many instruments, like the guitar, keyboard, piano, and French horn, but he likes the keyboard and piano best. Andre is very serious about his music. He often plays for Tori's performances and has helped write almost all the songs she sings. Tori also sings backup for him sometimes.

Andre is smart and kind. Tori often goes to him for help or advice, and he's always there for her. He also likes to tell jokes, but the other characters don't usually find them funny.

Andre has a grandmother who acts a bit strangely. He also has a cousin who is an actor and an uncle who sells houses.

In the episode "Jade Gets Crushed", Andre starts to like Jade after they work on a song together and he hears her sing beautifully. Later, in "Tori Fixes Beck and Jade", his old feelings for Jade are mentioned again.

In "Tori Goes Platinum", Andre says that the singer Bruno Mars is one of his favorite musicians.

Robbie Shapiro

Robbie Shapiro (played by Matt Bennett) is one of Tori's friends at Hollywood Arts. He always talks with his puppet, Rex Powers, and everyone treats Rex as if he's a real person. Robbie is a skilled ventriloquist, but he doesn't like being called one. He acts as if Rex has his own mind and isn't controlled by him. Robbie has had Rex since he was little, and they are almost always together. Robbie loves Rex, even though Rex often makes fun of him.

Robbie is a bit shy and nerdy, but he's a good, loyal, and honest friend. He has a hard time with relationships and attracting girls. Robbie is also in love with Cat Valentine. In "The Blonde Squad", he writes and sings a song called 'I Think You're Swell' for her, telling her how great she is. Cat seems to enjoy the song but doesn't quite understand his true feelings. Robbie is also the only one who knows Cat's full name, Caterina. He doesn't seem to understand privacy very well. His only family member shown is his grandmother. Robbie can't eat gluten. In the episode 'Wok Star', it's revealed that Robbie is Jewish.

Rex Powers

Rex Powers (a ventriloquist dummy, voiced by Jake Farrow) is Robbie's puppet friend. Robbie carries Rex everywhere and has had him since he was young. Robbie is often too shy to speak for himself, so he uses Rex to say what he really thinks and feels. The others treat Rex like a real person, and both Rex and Robbie don't like it when Rex is called a 'dummy' or 'puppet'. Rex is very interested in girls from Northridge, a neighborhood in Los Angeles.

In "Rex Dies", Rex gets sucked into a wind machine and is even taken to a hospital, even though he's a dummy! Rex has a big crush on Tori and often flirts with her, which usually annoys her. Robbie often asks Rex for advice, but Rex's advice is usually very strange. Rex is sarcastic and can be mean, especially to Robbie, but they can't stay without each other.

In the first three seasons, Rex is always with Robbie. In season four, Robbie is sometimes seen without Rex.

In 2011, Rex's "actor" Christopher Cane hosted a bloopers episode of Victorious called "Blooptorious". He interviewed the cast and showed funny mistakes from the show.

Jade West

Jade West (played by Elizabeth Gillies) is a student at Hollywood Arts and Tori's fierce "frenemy." She has a gothic style, always wearing dark clothes, with eyebrow piercings and different colored streaks in her hair. She is the long-time girlfriend of Beck Oliver. Jade is very protective of Beck and can get angry at anyone she thinks is a threat to their relationship. She doesn't show much affection to anyone.

In the first episode, Jade thinks Tori is flirting with Beck. Later, she pours coffee on Tori's head during an acting class. Tori gets back at her by winning an improv game and kissing Beck.

Jade loves to win against anyone she sees as a rival. She also likes strange, dark, or unusual things that might scare other people. She loves scissors and is often seen holding them. Her locker is even decorated with scissors.

In "Ice Cream for Ke$ha", it's shown that she had a difficult childhood. Her favorite toys were a hammer and scissors, and her parents were not very supportive. Jade is a very talented singer and actress, which is how she got into Hollywood Arts. In "Jade Dumps Beck," it's revealed they had been dating for almost two years. They break up in "The Worst Couple" because they fight too much, but Jade still has feelings for him. After some time apart, they get back together in "Tori Fixes Beck and Jade" when Jade sings a song that seems to be for Beck. They realize they missed each other.

Jade later appeared in the Sam & Cat episode "#TheKillerTunaJump" where she meets Sam Puckett and becomes friends with her. Cat thought they would fight because they have similar strong personalities.

Cat Valentine

Catarina "Cat" Valentine (played by Ariana Grande) is Tori's quirky friend from Hollywood Arts. She is fun, energetic, and sometimes doesn't notice what's going on around her. Her full first name is Catarina, but only her grandmother calls her that. She is generally friendly and liked by other students. Cat is sweet, innocent, bubbly, and happy. She has a playful nature and a very short attention span, so others can easily distract her with colorful things. She can be a bit dramatic and doesn't like criticism. She often screams "What's that supposed to mean!?" when she feels offended, which is her catchphrase. Cat often says random and strange things that confuse or annoy her friends, especially Jade.

Cat is also a very talented singer and actress. In "Freak The Freak Out", she sings a duet with Jade, and in "iParty with Victorious", she shows off her amazing singing voice. A running joke in the show is Cat talking about her brother, who seems to have many unusual problems that Cat doesn't find strange at all. She dyed her hair bright red to match her favorite snack, a red velvet cupcake. Andre calls her "Little Red," which she first didn't like but then thought was "creative." She sometimes carries stuffed animals. As the series went on, she became even more silly and over-the-top, with a higher voice and stranger conversations.

In January 2013, in the episode "Star-Spangled Tori," Cat's parents move to Idaho to be with her brother at a special care facility. They couldn't take Cat because it was in the middle of the school year. They sent her to live with her strict Uncle Walter and Aunt Pearl in Los Angeles. Cat didn't like their rules, so she ran away and hid in the attic of Hollywood Arts' BlackBox theater. Robbie and Jade found her living there. After Jade called Cat's parents, Cat went to live with her grandmother, who lives in Venice, California. Cat calls her grandmother "Nona."

After Victorious ended, Cat became a main character in the spin-off show Sam & Cat, which started in 2013. Sam and Cat become roommates when Cat's Nona moves to an elderly care home. Sam and Cat had met before in the 2011 iCarly crossover episode "iParty with Victorious". In Sam & Cat, Sam officially meets Cat after saving her from a garbage truck. The next day, Sam and Cat start a babysitting service to earn money.

Beck Oliver

Beck Oliver (played by Avan Jogia) is a student at Hollywood Arts and Jade's boyfriend. They have been together for over two years. Unlike everyone else, Beck is not afraid of Jade. He often likes to tease her and make her jealous because he finds her reactions amusing. Beck seems to be the only one who can calm Jade down when she gets angry and has some control over her.

Beck is usually quiet, friendly, relaxed, humble, open, and caring. While he can get annoyed or even lose his temper (usually with Robbie or Trina), he is normally calm. Because he is good-looking and has a nice personality, he is probably the most popular guy at Hollywood Arts. Almost all girls, and sometimes even older women, are attracted to him. He seems to know how girls react to him and sometimes uses his looks to his advantage. He and Andre are close friends. His school locker is clear, showing he has no secrets. He lives in a trailer parked in his parents' driveway because he wants to live by his own rules. Beck grew up in Canada before moving to Los Angeles.

In "Beck Falls For Tori" and "iParty with Victorious", it's shown that Beck has never felt truly scared. Jade even calls him "unscareable." He usually tries to keep peace in the group. Beck breaks up with Jade in "The Worst Couple" because he's tired of their constant fighting. In "Tori Goes Platinum", Beck tries to kiss Tori, showing he has feelings for her, but she turns him down because she feels it would be wrong to Jade. In "Tori Fixes Beck and Jade", Beck dates a girl named Meredith who agrees to everything he wants. This makes him realize he prefers dating someone who "fights back" and "has a big mouth" because an easy relationship is "boring" to him. This makes him miss Jade and realize he loves her, bringing them back together. After this, their relationship becomes stronger.

In the Sam & Cat episode "#TheKillerTunaJump", Jade says they are still together.

Trina Vega

Trina Vega (played by Daniella Monet) is Tori's older sister and also goes to Hollywood Arts. Trina's allergic reaction in the first episode makes Tori fill in for her, which leads to Tori getting into the school.

Trina truly believes her acting and singing skills will make her a global star, but she doesn't realize she has no talent. It's revealed that when Trina first tried out for Hollywood Arts, Sikowitz voted her in while he was affected by an expired fruit, so he didn't realize how bad she was.

Trina is often selfish and self-centered. She can be very difficult to deal with, and sometimes people call her a "monster." However, before she got into Hollywood Arts, she was shown as a shy, sweet, nerdy girl at her audition.

Despite her selfish side, Trina can be concerned about her sister. She often looks out for Tori. Later in the series, she shows some small signs of growing up. For example, in "Locked Up!", she tries to get Tori out of a foreign prison and genuinely worries about her.

Trina also seems to have bad luck and often gets hurt. For example, she falls from the ceiling, a wall falls on her, and she gets hit with flour or a box of shoes.

In the final episode "Victori-yes," Trina is seen wearing expensive clothes and boasts about finally getting a TV role. She calls her show "Top Notch Acting." Later, Jade and Tori learn that Trina's show is a Spanish comedy where she plays a giant piece of cheese being bothered by children in mouse costumes.

Recurring characters

Sinjin

Sinjin Van Cleef (played by Michael Eric Reid) is a strange student at Hollywood Arts. He is nerdy and very weird. His locker has chewed-up food on it, and he collects teeth from relatives of past presidents. He is often used as a fake date or bribed to pretend to date someone, including Cat. He often interrupts conversations with odd comments that don't make sense. He loves disco music and has a big crush on Tori and Jade, though they are usually annoyed by him. Sinjin is very good at working behind the scenes for school shows. He is skilled with audio, lighting, and making props, and he seems to lead the technical team. He is also good with computers and can even hack into a private server to delete an embarrassing picture of Jade in "The Bad Roommate".

Sikowitz

Erwin Sikowitz (played by Eric Lange) is the hippie-like acting teacher at Hollywood Arts. His habits are weird, and his teaching methods are often strange (like throwing a ball at Cat during a performance), but they are usually effective. He often walks around barefoot and likes to enter the classroom through a window. He is almost always seen drinking from a coconut because, as Jade says, "the milk gives him visions." Tori once gave him two dollars, thinking he was homeless. He also let Cat, Jade, Beck, Andre, and Robbie start a fake ping-pong team to earn money for a fancy dinner. He says he is 34 years old in "The Diddly-Bops".

In the first episode, he is called Mr. Sikowitz, but in all other episodes, he is just called Sikowitz. In "Sleepover at Sikowitz's", it's revealed he has a nephew named Jason. His catchphrase is "Good Gandhi!" Even though Sikowitz is strange, he is Tori, Cat, Jade, Beck, Andre, and Robbie's favorite teacher. He is very open with them and even says he is their friend.

Sikowitz is regularly seen drinking from a coconut. In one episode, he was hanging upside down from the ceiling when Tori came to him for help. He has a very strange house, as shown in "Sleepover at Sikowitz's".

Sikowitz appeared in the Sam & Cat episode "#MommaGoomer."

Lane

Lane Alexander (played by Lane Napper) is the guidance counselor at Hollywood Arts. Lane is a good counselor and often helps students with their problems and arguments. However, sometimes he can be a bit unwilling, asking students "Why Me?". He usually makes the big announcements at school. He seems to dislike dry skin or is obsessed with lotion, as he is often seen putting lotion on his hands. He has a nephew named Devon. Lane was the one who made a reality TV show, The Wood, leave the school because it was causing problems for the students.

He can be a bit extreme in his actions, like when he gave Tori a two-week detention for accidentally hitting Jade during a stage fighting practice.

David and Holly Vega

David and Holly Vega (played by Jim Pirri and Jennifer Carta) are Tori and Trina's parents. David works as a police officer, but Holly's job was never shown.

They were loving at times, but often seemed to be away from home, going on fancy trips without their daughters. When they were home, they sometimes didn't pay attention to Tori and Trina's needs and weren't always there for parental duties. For example, in "Freak the Freak Out", Trina has her wisdom teeth removed, and her parents go out of town to Santa Barbara, California so they don't have to take care of her. Because of this, Trina and Tori often had to take care of themselves. Tori sometimes mentions that her father is a cop, usually to get Sinjin to leave her alone. David Vega works for the LAPD.

Andre's grandmother

Charlotte Harris (played by Marilyn Harris) is Andre's grandmother. She acts a bit strangely and is often worried about things. She seems afraid of almost everything, even common objects like clocks and mirrors. In "Wi-Fi in the Sky", she gets scared after seeing her reflection in a mirror and yells, "Andre, there's another 'me' on the wall!" When new people greet her, she hides and shouts, "I don't know you!" Andre tells Tori in the first episode that her coming to see Trina perform is the first time she has left her house in six years. He also says that before she started acting strangely, she used to tell him, "Andre, no matter how bad things get, you can always make it better by singing a song." She often yells at Andre, and this might be the only way she talks to anyone.

Mrs. Lee

Mrs. Lee (played by Susan Chuang) owns Tori's favorite Chinese restaurant, Wok Star. In "Wok Star", she offers to pay for Jade's play. But things get difficult when Mrs. Lee makes big changes to the script and wants her daughter, Daisy, to be in the play.

Mrs. Lee returns in "Andre's Horrible Girl", now running a Sushi bar called Nozu after Wok Star "mysteriously" burned down. She also appears in "How Trina Got In", making Tori and Robbie chop squid when they can't pay their bill. She has a grudge against both Jade and Tori because they left her daughter hanging from the ceiling.

Burf

Burf (played by Darsan Solomon) is a student at Hollywood Arts who often hangs out with Sinjin. He first appears in "Tori & Jade's Playdate", spying on Tori and Jade for Sikowitz. He also appears in "Driving Tori Crazy" and "The Blonde Squad". In "Tori Goes Platinum", he sends in a video of himself singing for a contest.
