Moana is a 2016 American animated musical fantasy adventure film. It was made by Walt Disney Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. The film was directed by Ron Clements and John Musker. Don Hall and Chris Williams were co-directors.
The movie features the voices of Auliʻi Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson. It tells the story of Moana, a strong-willed daughter of a chief. She lives in a Polynesian tribe. The ocean itself chooses her to return a special relic to a goddess. When a problem affects her island, Moana sails off. She searches for Maui, a legendary demigod. She hopes to save her people.
Moana first showed in Los Angeles on November 14, 2016. It came out in theaters on November 23, 2016. Film critics really liked it. The website Rotten Tomatoes said 96% of reviews were positive. Metacritic gave it a score of 81 out of 100.
