List of districts of Punjab, India facts for kids
Imagine a big state like Punjab in India. It's divided into smaller areas called districts. Each district is like a mini-state, and it has its own leader. This leader is called a District Magistrate or Deputy Commissioner. This person is a special officer from the Indian Administrative Service, which is a group of important government workers. Many other officers from the Punjab Civil Service and other state departments help the District Magistrate manage everything.
Currently, Punjab has 23 districts. The newest one, Malerkotla district, was created on May 14, 2021, from part of Sangrur district.
