Loggerheads is a small village located in Denbighshire, Wales. It sits right by the River Alyn, which is a smaller river that flows into the larger River Dee.
This village is famous for Loggerheads Country Park. This park follows the path of the River Alyn through a special type of limestone landscape. You can still see signs of old lead mines and mills here. There's even a working flour mill you can visit!

Loggerheads Country Park is a great place to explore nature and history. The park's landscape was shaped by water over many years. This created interesting karstic features in the limestone.
The Leete Walk: A Historic Waterway
A special water channel, called a leat (or leete), was built around 1824. This channel runs along the side of the valley. It was used to carry water to the lead mines in Mold. These mines were on land owned by the powerful Grosvenor family. Today, this old water channel is a popular walking path known as the Leete Walk.
The Name Loggerheads: A Local Mystery
Have you ever wondered how Loggerheads got its unique name? It might come from an old disagreement! There was a dispute over the boundaries between the areas of Mold and Llanferres.
King Arthur's Hoof Print
The final boundary line is marked by a stone called Carreg Carn March Arthur. Legend says this stone has the imprint of Arthur's horse's hoof. It's believed his horse made the mark after jumping from the nearby mountain, Moel Famau.
The "We Three Loggerheads" Pub Sign
The local pub in Loggerheads has a very famous sign. It shows two men looking angry at each other. Below them are the words We Three Loggerheads. This sign comes from a painting by a famous artist named Richard Wilson. The funny part is, the "third loggerhead" was actually you, the person looking at the sign! It's a clever way to include the viewer in the scene.
