Loja Province is a province in Ecuador. A province is like a large region or state within a country. The main city and capital of this province is also called Loja.

Podocarpus National Park: A Natural Treasure

Podocarpus National Park is a huge natural park located in Loja Province. It covers about 1,463 square kilometers. The park has many different types of land, from areas as low as 1,000 meters to mountains as high as 3,690 meters.

Amazing Animals and Plants

This park is a special home for many animals. You can find spectacled bears and pumas living here. It's also a fantastic place for birdwatching, with over 600 different kinds of birds!

The plants in Podocarpus National Park are also very unique. More than 40% of the park's 3,000 to 4,000 plant species are endemic. This means they are found only in this specific area and nowhere else in the world.
