Long Live the Royals is a fun American animated TV show. It was created by Sean Szeles, who also worked on Regular Show. This show is a short series, called a miniseries, which means it has only a few episodes. It aired on Cartoon Network from November 30 to December 3, 2015. The miniseries has four episodes. Each episode follows a different member of a make-believe British Royal Family as they celebrate a special event called the Yule Hare Festival.

About the Royal Family

Long Live the Royals is set in a modern world, but in a medieval kingdom. It tells the story of a make-believe British Royal Family. The family includes King Rufus, Queen Eleanor, and their three children: Peter, Rosalind, and Alex.

The show follows them as they celebrate the yearly Yule Hare Festival. The royal family has to manage ruling their kingdom. At the same time, they try to have a normal family life. The festival is full of parties and big feasts.

How the Show Was Made

Long Live the Royals was created by Sean Szeles. Cartoon Network Studios produced this miniseries. It was announced in February 2015. This show was the third miniseries to air on Cartoon Network. The others were Over the Garden Wall in November 2014 and Stakes in November 2015.

The idea for the miniseries came from a pilot episode. A pilot is a short test episode made to see if a show will be popular. This pilot was released online in May 2014. Sean Szeles developed the pilot with the studio's help. It even won him an Emmy Award! This award was given at the sixty-sixth annual Primetime Creative Arts ceremony. Before this, Szeles was a supervising producer on Regular Show.

Four episodes were made for the miniseries. Each episode was about eleven minutes long. They are all set at night and focus on a different character. Michael Ouweleen, who works for Cartoon Network, said that miniseries allow for new artistic ideas. They also help pilots that were put on hold finally get made.

Many comedians were hired to voice the characters. Jon Daly, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Gillian Jacobs, and Nicki Rapp voiced King Rufus, Queen Eleanor, Rosalind, and Alex again. They had voiced these characters in the pilot. Kieran Culkin took over as the voice of Peter. Other voices were done by Fred Armisen, Ellie Kemper, Ken Marino, Alfred Molina, Horatio Sanz, and Peter Serafinowicz.
