Lonny Leroy Baxter was born on January 27, 1979. He is an American basketball player who used to play professionally. He is about 6 feet 8 inches tall. Lonny played as a power forward and center on the court.

College Basketball Success

Lonny Baxter went to the University of Maryland, College Park. While there, he helped his team win a big championship. In 2002, they won the NCAA championship.

His teammates included future NBA players like Juan Dixon, Steve Blake, and Chris Wilcox. They beat the Indiana team to win the title. Lonny was also named the most valuable player for his region in the NCAA Tournament twice, in 2001 and 2002.

Professional Basketball Career

After college, Lonny Baxter became a professional basketball player. He played for several teams in the NBA and in Europe.

Playing in the NBA

The Chicago Bulls picked Lonny in the 2002 2002 NBA draft. He was the 44th player chosen overall. Later, in 2006, he was traded from the Houston Rockets to the Charlotte Bobcats. This trade involved another player named Keith Bogans.

Lonny's last game in the NBA was on April 19, 2006. His team, the Charlotte Bobcats, won against the Philadelphia 76ers. He played for 7 minutes in that game. During his time in the NBA, from 2002 to 2006, Lonny played in 162 games. He averaged about 3.9 points and 2.9 rebounds per game.

Playing in Europe

Lonny also played basketball in Europe. During the 2004–2005 season, he played some games for a Greek team called Panathinaikos. He had to leave the team after getting injured.

In 2006, Lonny signed with an Italian team, Montepaschi Siena. He helped them win the Italian League championship in 2007. Later, he joined Panionios in 2008 and Beşiktaş Cola Turka in 2009. He also played for teams in Russia and Venezuela before ending his career in 2013.

Life After Basketball

As of 2025, Lonny Baxter works as a Product Specialist. He works for Ourisman Mazda in Laurel, Maryland.
