Lonny Leroy Baxter (born January 27, 1979) is an American former professional basketball player. He is 6 feet 8 inches (2.03 m) tall. Lonny played as a power forward and center during his career.

Lonny Baxter's College Basketball Career

Lonny Baxter played college basketball at the University of Maryland, College Park. He was a key player for the Maryland Terrapins. In 2002, his team won the NCAA championship.

He played alongside future NBA stars like Juan Dixon and Steve Blake. They defeated the Indiana Hoosiers in the final game. Lonny was named a regional MVP in the NCAA Tournament twice. This happened in both 2001 and 2002.

Lonny Baxter's Professional Basketball Career

Lonny Baxter had a long professional basketball career. He played in the NBA and also for many teams in Europe.

Playing in the NBA

The Chicago Bulls picked Lonny in the 2002 2002 NBA draft. He was the 44th player chosen overall. After playing for the Bulls, he joined the Houston Rockets. In 2006, he was traded to the Charlotte Bobcats.

Lonny's last NBA game was on April 19, 2006. He played for the Charlotte Bobcats in a win against the Philadelphia 76ers. During his NBA career from 2002 to 2006, he played 162 games. He averaged 3.9 points and 2.9 rebounds per game.

Playing in Europe

After his time in the NBA, Lonny Baxter played for several teams in Europe. In the 2004–05 season, he played for Panathinaikos in Greece. He later signed with Montepaschi Siena in Italy in 2006.

In 2008, Lonny joined Panionios. He then moved to Beşiktaş Cola Turka in Turkey in 2009. He also played for Enisey Krasnoyarsk in Russia and Guaiqueríes de Margarita in Venezuela.
