Loucheiz Purifoy, born on December 16, 1992, is an American professional football player. He plays as a defensive back for the Edmonton Elks in the Canadian Football League (CFL). Before joining the pros, Purifoy played college football for the University of Florida. He has also played for teams like the Indianapolis Colts, Seattle Seahawks, BC Lions, Ottawa Redblacks, and Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Early Life and High School Sports
Loucheiz Purifoy grew up in Pensacola, Florida. He went to Pine Forest High School in Pensacola. There, he was a star athlete in both football and track.
Football Skills in High School
On the football field, Purifoy played many different positions. He was a quarterback, running back, and wide receiver. His team, the Eagles, used a special offense called the "split-back veer."
Track and Field Achievements
Beyond football, Purifoy was also a talented track athlete. He was great at the long jump and triple jump. He had impressive personal bests of 7.21 meters in the long jump and 14.68 meters in the triple jump. He also ran the 200 meters, finishing with a best time of 22.08 seconds.
College Football Career
After high school, Purifoy earned a scholarship to play football. He chose to attend the University of Florida. He played for the Florida Gators football team from 2011 to 2013.
Freshman and Sophomore Seasons
In 2011, as a first-year student, he played in all 13 games. He was a backup cornerback and played on special teams. In 2012, during his second year, he started in 12 out of 13 games. He made 51 tackles that season.
Junior Year and Moving On
In 2013, his junior year, Purifoy started in seven of 11 games. He recorded 24 tackles, caught two interceptions, and had two sacks. On November 30, 2013, Purifoy decided to leave college early. He chose to enter the 2014 NFL Draft to become a professional player.
Professional Football Journey
Loucheiz Purifoy began his professional career in 2014. He joined the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent. This means he wasn't chosen in the main draft but was signed afterward.
Time with the Indianapolis Colts
On May 12, 2014, Purifoy signed with the Colts. He competed for a spot with another cornerback, Marcus Burley. Both players did well. The Colts decided to trade Burley to the Seattle Seahawks and kept Purifoy. He made the team's main roster. Purifoy played in 11 games during the 2014 season. His playing time increased as the year went on. He was later released by the team on November 27.
Brief Stint with the Seattle Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks picked up Purifoy on November 28, 2014. However, he was released just a few days later on December 1, 2014. This happened because he did not pass a physical exam.
First Time with the BC Lions
On March 21, 2016, Purifoy signed with the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League (CFL). His coach, Wally Buono, said Purifoy had a very impressive first season. He played well in 2017 too. That year, he made 49 defensive tackles, three special teams tackles, and three interceptions. After the 2017 season, he became a free agent.
Playing for the Ottawa Redblacks
On February 13, 2018, Purifoy signed a one-year contract with the Ottawa Redblacks. He played in the first seven games of the season. During this time, he had 29 tackles, one interception, and forced a fumble. The Redblacks released him on August 6, 2018.
Joining the Saskatchewan Roughriders
Just one day after being released by the Redblacks, Purifoy found a new team. He signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Second Time with the BC Lions
On February 8, 2022, Purifoy signed with the BC Lions again. He played in all 18 regular season games for the Lions. He made 55 tackles, nine special-teams tackles, three interceptions, and one sack. For his great performance, he was named a CFL All-Star. He was released by the Lions on January 4, 2023.
Current Team: Edmonton Elks
On January 9, 2023, it was announced that Loucheiz Purifoy had signed with the Edmonton Elks. He continues to play for them today.
