Where is Lowell Located?
Lowell village is in the western part of Orleans County. It sits right in the middle of the town of Lowell. The village is in a valley. This valley is formed by the East Branch Missisquoi River. This river joins another stream called the Burgess Branch at the north end of the village.
The Missisquoi River
When the East Branch and Burgess Branch meet, they form the main Missisquoi River. This river flows north first. Then, it turns west. Finally, it empties into Lake Champlain.

Major Roads
- Vermont Route 100 goes right through the center of the village.
- If you go north on Route 100, you will reach Troy village about 8 miles away.
- If you head southwest, you will get to Hyde Park in about 19 miles.
- Vermont Route 58 also crosses Route 100 in the village center.
- Going east on Route 58 will take you to Irasburg, which is about 9 miles away.
- If you travel northwest on Route 58, you will go over Hazens Notch. This route leads to Montgomery Center, about 10 miles from Lowell.
