Luca Filippi (born on August 9, 1985, in Savigliano, Italy) is an Italian former auto racing driver. He competed in the GP2 Series from 2006 to 2012. He also raced in the IndyCar Series from 2013 to 2016. In 2008, he was an official test driver for the Honda Racing F1 team.

Luca Filippi's Racing Journey
Early Years in Formula Renault
Luca Filippi started his racing career in 2003 after competing in karting. He joined the Formula Renault 2.0 Italia series. In 2004, he finished third overall. This was a strong start for the young driver.
Moving Up to Formula 3000
In 2005, Luca moved to the Italian Formula 3000 series. He drove for the Fisichella Motorsport team, which was owned by famous driver Giancarlo Fisichella. That same year, Luca also got his first chance to test a Formula One car with the Minardi team.
Adventures in GP2 Series Racing

In 2006, Luca joined the GP2 Series with Fisichella's team. He later switched to the BCN Competición team during the season. The GP2 Series was a major step towards Formula One.
In 2007, Luca continued in GP2 with Super Nova Racing. He became one of the best drivers in the series. He finished the season in fourth place overall. This strong performance caught the eye of Formula One teams.
Luca tested for Honda Racing F1 in November 2007. He also tested for Super Aguri F1 in December. He even showed impressive speed, being faster than some regular race drivers.
For the first GP2 Asia Series in early 2008, Luca raced for Team Meritus. He scored four points in ten races. Later in 2008, he drove for ART Grand Prix in the main GP2 Series. He then moved to the Arden International team.

Luca returned to Super Nova in 2009. He won the final race of the season. This helped him finish fifth in the championship. He also returned to Team Meritus for the 2009-10 GP2 Asia Series. He finished second in that championship, winning a race in Bahrain.
In 2010, Luca became the most experienced GP2 driver ever. He had competed in 82 races. He rejoined Super Nova mid-season. In 2011, he moved to Scuderia Coloni. He had a fantastic year, winning three races. These wins helped him finish second in the drivers' championship, his best result.

Luca returned to GP2 in 2012 for his home race at Monza. He won the main race despite being away from the series for almost a year. He also earned pole position for the next race in Singapore. He finished 16th in the championship, even though he only raced in four events.
Racing in Auto GP
Luca also competed in the Auto GP series. In 2010, he won two races and finished fifth overall. He returned in 2011 and had another great season. He took one pole position, one win, and five podium finishes. He ended up as the runner-up in the championship, missing the title by just three points.
Joining the IndyCar Series
In 2013, Luca Filippi began racing in the IndyCar Series in the United States. He competed in four races for Bryan Herta Autosport. His best finish was 15th.
In 2015, CFH Racing signed Luca to race in the road and street courses. For the 2016 season, he joined Dale Coyne Racing. This was his first time racing on oval tracks. His first oval race was in Phoenix, Arizona. However, he was later replaced by another driver for the Indianapolis races.
Formula E Experience
In 2017, Luca joined the Nio Formula E Team in the all-electric FIA Formula E Championship. He scored a point in his very first race in Hong Kong. However, he did not score any more points that season. He was a reserve driver for the Nio 333 FE Team in the 2020–21 Formula E World Championship.
