Ludic Check (born May 22, 1917 – died May 11, 2009) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player. He played for famous teams like the Detroit Red Wings and the Chicago Black Hawks in the National Hockey League (NHL).
Ludic played hockey in different places like Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and New York before joining the NHL. He was signed by the Montreal Canadiens in 1943. In 1944, he played his first NHL game with the Red Wings.
Later, he played 26 games for the Blackhawks. He then joined the Ottawa "Senior" Senators in the Quebec Senior Hockey League. He spent the last six years of his career there. Ludic Check helped his teams win the Allan Cup in 1944 and 1949. After hockey, he worked as a sales representative. He passed away in Ottawa, Ontario, in 2009, at 91 years old.

Early Life and Junior Hockey
Ludic Check was born in Brandon, Manitoba, on May 22, 1917. He started playing junior hockey with the Brandon Wheat Kings. He played for them from 1936 to 1938.
After that, he played two seasons for the Regina Aces. This team was later called the Regina Vic-Aces. He played with them from 1938 to 1940. Ludic was a strong player, standing five feet, ten inches tall. He weighed 165 pounds.
Hockey Career Highlights
Starting in Amateur Leagues
After playing junior hockey, Ludic Check became a left winger. He spent a season with the New York Rovers in the Eastern Amateur Hockey League. Even though his team finished last, he scored 21 goals and made 20 assists.
Next, he played for the Sydney Millionaires in the Cape Breton Senior Hockey League. There, he scored 29 goals and had 22 assists. He was a great scorer!
Joining the NHL
In 1942–1943, the National Hockey League's Montreal Canadiens signed Ludic. However, he mostly played for the Quebec Aces in the Quebec Senior Hockey League. He scored 60 goals and 40 assists for them.
On March 11, 1944, he played his only NHL game for the Detroit Red Wings. He was an emergency player because someone else was injured. He didn't score any points in that game. But in 1944, he won his first Allan Cup with the Quebec Aces. They beat the Port Arthur Shipbuilders.
For the 1944–1945 season, Ludic was loaned to the Chicago Black Hawks. He played 26 games for them. He scored six goals and made two assists.
Playing for the Ottawa Senators
Ludic Check spent the rest of his hockey career with the Ottawa "Senior" Senators. This team was also in the QSHL. He played in the Allan Cup championship two more times.
In 1948, his team lost to the Edmonton Eskimos. But in 1949, they won the championship! They beat the Regina Pats. Ludic played six seasons with the Senators. He scored 81 goals and made 84 assists. He was one of the top ten scorers in the league four times. He stopped playing hockey after the 1950–1951 season.
Life After Hockey
After retiring from hockey, Ludic Check started a new career. He worked as a sales representative for the Hiram Walker distillery. He did this job for more than 30 years.
Ludic Check passed away on May 11, 2009, in Ottawa, Ontario. He was 91 years old. At the time of his death, he was one of the last players left from the 1949 Senior Senators team. That team won Ottawa's last Allan Cup championship.
