Lyndon is a small town located in Cattaraugus County, New York, in the United States. In 2020, about 686 people lived there. It sits on the eastern edge of the county, just north of the city of Olean.

History of Lyndon
The area that is now Lyndon was first settled around 1806. The town of Lyndon was officially created in 1829. It was formed from a part of the nearby town of Franklinville. For a short time around 1857, the town was known as "Elgin."
In 1875, the population of Lyndon was 805 people.
The North Lyndon Schoolhouse is a special building. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, which means it's an important historical site.
Geography and Location
Lyndon covers a total area of about 86.2 square kilometers (or 33.3 square miles). Most of this area, about 86.1 square kilometers (33.2 square miles), is land. Only a tiny part, about 0.1 square kilometers (0.04 square miles), is water.
The eastern border of Lyndon is also the border of Allegany County.

- To the north, Lyndon shares a border with the town of Farmersville.
- To the south, it borders the town of Ischua.

Communities and Places in Lyndon
Lyndon has a few smaller communities and important natural features:
- Elgin – This is a small village, also called a hamlet, located in the middle of the town. You can find it on County Road 47, also known as Lyndon Center Road.
- Gates Creek – This is a stream that flows out of the western part of the town.
- Oil Creek – This is another stream, found near the eastern border of the town.
- Rawson – This is another hamlet located on the eastern border of the town. It is on County Road 7A, also called Rawson Road.
