Mélanie Laurent (born 21 February 1983) is a French actress, director, and singer. She is famous in France and around the world for her roles in many popular movies. She has won two César Awards, which are like the French version of the Oscars.
Many people know her from big international films like Inglourious Basterds (2009), Now You See Me (2013), and 6 Underground (2019). She started acting when she was only sixteen years old.
Her first big success in France was for the 2006 movie Don't Worry, I'm Fine. For this role, she won a César Award for Most Promising Actress. She became famous in Hollywood after playing Shosanna Dreyfus in Quentin Tarantino's war film Inglourious Basterds. This role won her several awards from film critics.

Mélanie Laurent was born in Paris, France. Her mother, Annick, was a ballerina, and her father, Pierre, is a voiceover actor. A voiceover actor provides the voice for characters in movies or TV shows. Her father is the French voice for the character Ned Flanders in The Simpsons.

Her career took a big step forward in 2006 with the movie Don't Worry, I'm Fine. She played a 19-year-old girl who is very sad because her twin brother is missing. Her performance was so good that she won a César Award for Most Promising Actress.
In the same year, she starred in the comedy Dikkenek. For this role, she won an award for Best Female Newcomer. She also appeared in the 2008 film Paris, which had a large cast of famous French actors like Juliette Binoche and Romain Duris.
2009–2010: Hollywood Breakthrough
In 2009, Laurent got her first major role in an American movie. She was cast as Shosanna Dreyfus in Quentin Tarantino's film Inglourious Basterds. She starred alongside famous actors like Brad Pitt and Christoph Waltz. In the movie, her character wants to get revenge on the Nazis during World War II.
The film was a huge success all over the world. Critics loved Laurent's performance. They said she brought "heart and soul" to the movie.
