Nature and Environment

Mölle has a special coastal area with shingle beaches and rocky shorelines. This ecosystem is home to many coastal wildflowers, lichens, and mosses. You can also see lots of different birds here.

Higher up the hillsides, Mölle is surrounded by forests of oak and beech trees. These forests lead into the Kullaberg Nature Reserve. This area has many different plants and animals. Kullaberg is even listed as an Important Bird Area because of all the birds that live there.

The air quality in Mölle is excellent. There isn't much industry nearby, and fresh breezes blow in from the sea. The town is also very quiet. There aren't many cars, so sound levels are low. Many people walk around Mölle using the efficient footpaths that go up and down the hills.

Mölle Harbour

The harbour was built using a rock jetty that creates a safe space in a natural bay. It has slips for about 130 small and medium-sized boats.

Mölle's harbour is the most important place in town for both business and fun. This is especially true in summer. People and visitors come to the waterfront to walk, eat, shop, and spend time together. They also take boats for day trips. Sometimes, in the warmest months, you might even see swimmers in the cool harbour waters.

The harbour is also important because it's in a central spot on the Kattegat Strait. This is one of the busiest parts of the Baltic Sea region. Mölle is also close to the historic Kullen Lighthouse on the Kullaberg Peninsula. This lighthouse is the brightest one in Sweden!

Mölle's History

Mölle was a busy fishing village in the 1800s. Some of its grand old buildings are still standing today. It has always been a place where relatively wealthy people lived, many of whom first made their money from fishing.

There are two large 19th-century hotels that sit high above the harbour. Other historic buildings include the Villa Italienborg, built in 1910. It was designed by a scrap dealer who got his ideas from visiting the Italian Riviera. Villa Africa is another old two-story house. A sea captain from Mölle built it to convince his bride to move from South Africa.
