History of Macedonia
The name of the city comes from a fun story. In the early 1800s, some students from Western Reserve College (which was in Hudson, Ohio back then) would go to preach in a small village about 6 miles (10 km) north. They remembered a Bible verse from the book of Acts (chapter 16, verse 10) that said, "...we sought to go to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them." This little joke led to the village being named Macedonia.
