Madison Bowey (born April 22, 1995) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player. He plays as a defenceman, which means he helps protect his team's goal. Currently, he plays for the Cleveland Monsters in the American Hockey League (AHL). The Washington Capitals chose him in the 2013 NHL Draft. He even won the famous Stanley Cup with them in 2018! Madison has also played for other teams like the Detroit Red Wings and Vancouver Canucks.

Madison Bowey's Hockey Journey
Starting in Junior Hockey
Madison Bowey started his hockey journey in junior leagues. The Kelowna Rockets picked him in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft. This is a special draft for young players. In his first year, he played a few games and got one assist.
The next year, he became a regular player for the Rockets. He scored 8 goals and had 21 points in 57 games. He also played for Team Canada West in a special tournament for young players.
During the 2012–13 WHL season, Madison became one of Kelowna's best defenders. He scored 12 goals and 30 points in 69 games. His strong play made him a top prospect for the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. He helped his team win their division.
In the 2013–14 WHL season, Madison continued to improve. He scored 25 points in his first 25 games. This showed he was becoming a great all-around defenceman.
Becoming a Pro Player
Winning the Stanley Cup
On April 2, 2014, the Washington Capitals signed Madison to a three-year contract. This was his first step into professional hockey. He joined the team in the 2014–15 NHL season.
Madison was called up to the Capitals in October 2017. He got his first NHL point on October 26, 2017, by assisting on a goal. On June 7, 2018, Madison Bowey won the Stanley Cup with the Washington Capitals. They beat the Vegas Golden Knights to win the team's first-ever Stanley Cup. Even though he didn't play in the playoff games, he played enough during the regular season to have his name on the Cup.
In the 2018–19 NHL season, Madison started the season with the Capitals. On December 29, he scored his first NHL goal! He and another rookie defenceman, Tyler Lewington, both scored their first goals in the same game. This was a first for the Capitals team.
Playing for Different Teams
Madison Bowey has played for several teams during his professional career. On February 22, 2019, the Capitals traded him to the Detroit Red Wings. He scored his first goal with the Red Wings in March.
After that, he signed with the Chicago Blackhawks in January 2021. He played a few games for them. Later, in April 2021, he was traded again, this time to the Vancouver Canucks.
In July 2022, Madison signed a contract with the Montreal Canadiens. He played for their AHL team, the Laval Rocket.
In August 2023, Madison decided to play overseas. He signed with HC Dinamo Minsk in the KHL league. He then moved to other KHL teams, Traktor Chelyabinsk and Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod.
After playing abroad, Madison returned to North America. In October 2024, he signed a contract with the Cleveland Monsters. This team is part of the AHL.
Playing for Team Canada
Madison Bowey has proudly represented Team Canada several times. He helped them win a Gold Medal at the 2012 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament.
At the 2013 IIHF World U18 Championships, Madison scored an important goal. It was the tying goal against the United States in the gold medal game. Canada went on to win that game 3-2. He scored 2 goals and 4 points in that tournament.
He also won a Gold Medal with Team Canada at the 2015 World Junior Ice Hockey Championship.
