Manitou Dawn is a powerful superhero from the DC Comics universe. She uses magic and has been a member of the famous Justice League.

Who is Manitou Dawn?

Manitou Dawn's Early Life

Manitou Dawn and her husband, Manitou Raven, lived a long time ago. They were from a special time called the Obsidian Age of Atlantis, around 1000 BC. They were born in North America, in a tribe that later became the Apache people.

Not much is known about Dawn's early life. Her husband, Raven, once shared a story about her. When she was thirteen, people called her "the goat." This was because she was strong and fought back when others tried to push her around. As she grew up, the chief of her tribe, Big Father, wanted her to marry him. However, things did not work out well.

Later, she met Raven, and they became very close. They fell in love on a memorable night when Dawn accidentally burned his house down.

Joining the Justice League

Raven was asked by the rulers of Atlantis, Rama Khan and Gamemnae, to join a group of heroes. This group, called the "League of Ancients," included heroes from different parts of the world. Dawn did not play an active role during this time.

After the Justice League defeated Gamemnae, Raven changed his mind. He and Dawn decided to travel into the future with the Justice League. Raven became a member of the team. Dawn quickly got used to the 20th-century world. She learned English with help from her new friend, Firestorm. Meanwhile, Raven became very busy with his work and grew distant from her.

Justice League Elite

Soon after, Raven was asked to join a new team called the Justice League Elite. This team was put together by Vera Black. Their job was to stop dangerous threats before they became public. They moved to a secret base in New Jersey called The Factory. Dawn went with her husband to this new base.

During this time, Dawn felt even more distant from Raven. Before they could fix their relationship, Raven died. He sacrificed himself to protect others from a bomb blast. But this powerful magician's story was not over.

The team's leader, Naif al-Sheikh, closed The Factory. He offered Dawn a place to stay, but she refused. She gave al-Sheikh Raven's hatchet but kept his magical staff. In her sadness and anger, she accidentally called Raven's spirit using the staff. She said his magic words, "Inukchuk!" Dawn then gained Raven's powers. His ghostly touch left a permanent mark on her face.

Now known as Manitou Dawn, she helped the Elite finish their last mission. She also helped find the team's traitor, Menagerie. Since then, Dawn has continued to help the Justice League. She was there when Aquaman officially ended the JLA. She also met Black Canary, who sensed Dawn's past relationship with Green Arrow. During the Infinite Crisis event, Dawn played a key role. She helped stop The Key, who had developed very strong mind-reading powers.

Raven's spirit has stayed close to Dawn. He acts as an unpredictable advisor, always by her side in a spiritual form.

After the Reign of Doomsday event, Batman mentioned something important. He said that Manitou Dawn and Zatanna were working together. They were trying to find Supergirl after she was kidnapped by Doomsday.

The Witching Hour

Manitou Dawn was one of several powerful magic users called "witches." These witches, including Witchfire, Black Orchid, Circe, and Wonder Woman, were marked by a powerful being named Hecate when they were young girls. Hecate did this to hide a piece of her soul from other strong magic users.

When Dawn's witchmark was activated, Hecate took control of her. Dawn was forced to try and destroy Nanda Parbat and the goddess Rama Kushna. Luckily, Zatanna and Constantine were able to stop Hecate. They freed all the witchmarked heroes before Hecate could complete her plan.
