Manzanita Lake is a beautiful lake found in Lassen Volcanic National Park in California. It's located close to the park's entrance, making it easy to visit. The lake is a popular spot for fishing, and you can find different types of trout here, like rainbow trout, brown trout, and brook trout.
Manzanita Lake was created about 300 years ago. A huge rock avalanche (like a giant rock slide) from the side of the Chaos Crags mountains blocked Manzanita Creek. This natural dam formed the lake we see today. The rock avalanche also left behind a big pile of rocks called the Chaos Jumbles.
Around the lake, there are several interesting places to explore. You can visit the Loomis Museum, which often has exhibits about the park. There's also a campground if you want to stay overnight, and the Manzanita Lake Naturalist's Services Historic District, which tells the story of how people have learned about nature in this area.
