Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games is a fun sports video game. It was made by Sega Sports R&D and published by Nintendo. This game is special because it's the first time characters from the Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog worlds teamed up!

It came out for the Nintendo Wii in November 2007. A version for the Nintendo DS followed in January 2008. This game was the official video game for the 2008 Summer Olympics in real life.

Playing the Game

In Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, you get to compete in many different sports. The game lets you play 24 events. These events are based on real Olympic sports.

Both the Wii and Nintendo DS versions have some different events. You can play by yourself or with friends.

Characters and Teams

There are 16 characters you can choose to play as. These characters are from the Mario and Sonic games. They are divided into four groups:

  • All-Around: These characters are good at everything.
  • Speed: These characters are super fast.
  • Power: These characters are very strong.
  • Skill: These characters are great at precise actions.

If you play the Wii version, you can also use a Mii character. You create Miis in the Mii Channel on your Wii console.

Types of Events

The game features many events that you would see in the real Olympic Games. These include track and field, swimming, and gymnastics.

Dream Events

Besides the regular Olympic events, there are also "Dream Events." These are special versions of the sports. They often include power-ups or unique rules. For example, in the DS-exclusive "Dream Canoe" event, you can use items from the Mario Kart games.
