Water Supply for the Town
Imagine a town that gets really busy in summer with tourists. They all need water! To make sure there's enough fresh water, Marion Bay uses a special system.
How Desalination Works
In 2008, a desalination plant was built here. This plant takes salty seawater and turns it into fresh, clean drinking water. It uses a process called reverse osmosis. This is like a super-fine filter that pushes water through a membrane. The membrane lets water molecules pass but blocks the salt and other impurities.
Why a Desalination Plant?
This plant helps supply water to the local caravan park, homes, and businesses. It was needed because the quality of water from underground sources (bore water) was getting worse. This poor quality water was also causing pipes to rust. The company Osmoflo designed and built this important water plant.
