Mark Iuliano (born August 12, 1973) is an Italian football manager and former professional player. He played as a defender. After he stopped playing, he became a coach.
Iuliano spent most of his playing career with Juventus. This is a famous club in Serie A, Italy's top football league. With Juventus, he won many important trophies. He also played for the Italy national football team. He helped Italy reach the final of UEFA Euro 2000 and played in the 2002 FIFA World Cup.

Starting at Salernitana
Mark Iuliano was born in Cosenza, Italy. He began his professional football career with Salernitana Calcio in 1990. He was loaned to Bologna FC for a season in 1992. During this time, he scored 1 goal in 24 games.
After returning to Salernitana, he was loaned out again in 1993. This time, he played for AC Monza for a season. He played 16 games for Monza. After these loan spells, Iuliano returned to Salernitana Calcio. He became a regular player, making over 85 appearances. He scored one goal and played both as a central defender and a side defender.
Playing for Juventus
Iuliano's strong performances at Salernitana caught the attention of big clubs. Serie A giants Juventus were especially interested. In July 1996, Iuliano moved to Juventus, a club based in Torino. He quickly became an important player. Juventus was a very dominant team in Italy and Europe at that time.
He made his first Serie A appearance for Juventus on September 15, 1996. Juventus won that game 2-1 against Cagliari Calcio. In his first season, he played 21 league games. He scored one goal in a 1-1 draw against Atalanta. That season, Juventus won the league title.
During the 1997–98 season, Juventus played a big game against Inter. This match is called the Derby d'Italia. There was a famous moment involving Iuliano and Inter's player, Ronaldo. Both players collided in the penalty area. Inter players thought it should have been a penalty kick for them. The referee, however, let the game continue. Juventus later won the match 1-0 and went on to win the league title. This moment is still talked about in Italian football history.
Iuliano became a regular starter for Juventus. He was part of one of the best defenses in the world. Juventus was known for letting in very few goals. He played alongside famous defenders like Ciro Ferrara, Paolo Montero, and Lilian Thuram. He stayed with Juventus for 10 years.
After the 2004–2005 Serie A win, some of his teammates left the club. In January 2005, Iuliano moved to RCD Mallorca in Spain. He had played over 200 games for Juventus and scored nearly 15 goals. During his time at Juventus, Iuliano won many trophies:

Time in Spain with Mallorca
Iuliano moved to RCD Mallorca in Spain's La Liga in the summer of 2005. He played there for only one season. He had a decent season, starting 29 games and scoring 4 goals.
Return to Italy
Iuliano came back to Italy in January 2006. He joined Serie A club UC Sampdoria. He stayed with the club for only six months. He played just four league games before moving again in July.
After Sampdoria, Iuliano moved to the Sicilian club FC Messina Peloro in the summer of 2006. Messina was relegated to Serie B that season. Iuliano played 24 games for the club and scored 1 goal. After Messina was relegated, his contract was not renewed. He became a free agent in July 2007.
Iuliano did not find a club for six months. In January 2008, he signed with Serie B team Ravenna Calcio. He played 10 games for Ravenna before retiring.
Retirement from Playing
Mark Iuliano officially retired from professional football in March 2012. He was 38 years old when he ended his playing career.
International Career
Mark Iuliano was a regular player for the Italy national football team. He first joined the national team in 1998. His last game for Italy was in 2003. He played for Italy in UEFA Euro 2000, where Italy finished second. He also played in the 2002 FIFA World Cup. He played 19 games for his country and scored one goal. His first game for Italy was on September 5, 1998, against Wales. He scored his only international goal against Portugal on April 26, 2000.
Style of Play
Mark Iuliano was known as one of the best Italian defenders of his time. He was a big, strong, and tough defender. He was very good at winning aerial battles (heading the ball). He was also skilled at marking opponents and tackling. He usually played as a centre-back. However, he was also versatile and could play as a full-back (on the side of the defense).
Coaching Career
After retiring as a player, Iuliano started a coaching career. In 2012, he became a youth coach for Pavia.
In July 2014, Iuliano was appointed youth coach at Serie B club Latina. On January 5, 2015, he became the head coach of Latina. His goal was to help the club avoid relegation. He was later removed from this role in November 2015.
On May 26, 2017, he became the head coach of Como. Later that year, on July 26, 2017, Iuliano agreed to become the new head coach for Albanian club FK Partizani Tirana.
On April 24, 2018, he was appointed as an assistant coach for Udinese. He worked alongside the head coach Igor Tudor.
