Mark Radice (born November 23, 1957) is an American singer, musician, songwriter, and producer. He started his music career very young and has worked with many famous artists. Mark is known for playing many instruments and has written over 5,500 songs!

Early Life and Musical Beginnings

Mark Radice was born in Newark, New Jersey in 1957. From 1968 to 1982, he lived in Nutley. In 2019, he was honored and added to the Nutley Hall of Fame.

Mark's father, Gene Radice, was a famous recording engineer. He worked with music legends like Jimi Hendrix and The Four Seasons. Mark taught himself to play guitar by listening to The Beatles albums. He started writing his own songs at just seven years old!

Mark's Music Career

Mark Radice signed with RCA Records in 1964 when he was only seven. His song "Natural Morning" was later sung by Frankie Valli. In 1967, while with Decca Records, he released "10,000 Year Old Blues." This song featured a young Steven Tyler, who later became famous with Aerosmith.

Mark's first full album, Mark Radice, came out in 1971. The song "Hey, My Love" from this album was later covered by other artists.

Working with Famous Artists

In 1973, the musician Donovan invited Mark to England. Mark helped with Donovan's album 7-Tease and joined him on tour. In 1976, Mark released his second solo album, Ain't Nothin' But A Party. This album included the popular song "If You Can't Beat 'Em Join 'Em."

As a songwriter for EMI Publishing in the 1970s, Mark worked with many stars. These included Michael Bolton, Barbra Streisand, and Barry Manilow. He also wrote for rock bands like Cheap Trick.

Mark later toured with Aerosmith in 1978, playing keyboards and singing backup. He even appeared on their live album, Live! Bootleg. In the mid-1980s, he toured with Cheap Trick again. He also played on their album Standing on the Edge. In the 1990s, Mark toured with blues musician Matt "Guitar" Murphy.

Music for Kids' Shows

Mark Radice was introduced to Jim Henson, the creator of The Muppets. Over eight years, Mark wrote more than 50 songs for The Muppets! This included music for the film Elmo's Christmas Countdown.

From 2005 to 2011, Mark wrote 160 songs for Sesame Street. He even helped rearrange the famous Sesame Street theme song in 2008. His work on Sesame Street earned him three Emmy Award nominations!

Recent Projects

In 2012, Mark moved to Tennessee. There, he worked with the Children's Media Studio. He wrote 27 songs for the Sing and Spell Learning Letters project. This project helps kids learn the alphabet. In 2019, it became an animated TV show. Mark has also worked for DigiTrax Entertainment in Knoxville since 2013. In 2016, he released a special collection of his songs called Audio Quicksand.
