Marlon N. Humphrey (born July 8, 1996) is an American professional football player. He plays as a cornerback for the Baltimore Ravens in the National Football League (NFL).
Marlon went to Hoover High School. There, he was named to the USA Today All-USA high school football team in 2012 and 2013. He also won a silver medal in track and field. This was for the 110-meter hurdles at the 2013 World Youth Championships in Donetsk, Ukraine.
He played college football for Alabama in 2015 and 2016. He helped his team win the CFP National Championship in 2015. In 2016, he was named an All-American.
The Ravens picked Marlon 16th overall in the 2017 NFL draft. He has been chosen for the Pro Bowl four times (2019, 2020, 2022, and 2024). He was also named a first-team All-Pro in 2019 and 2024.

Early Life and High School Sports
Marlon Humphrey grew up in Hoover, Alabama. He went to Hoover High School. He was chosen as an All-State player three times.
During his junior and senior years, his high school football team had an amazing record. They won 30 games and lost only 1. They also won the AHSAA 6A State Championships in 2013.
Marlon was a top high school football player. Many big colleges wanted him to play for them. He chose to go to Alabama.
Track and Field Achievements
Marlon was also a world-class track athlete in high school. He won a silver medal in the 110-meter hurdles. This was at the 2013 World Youth Championships in Donetsk, Ukraine. His time was 13.24 seconds. He was also named to the USA Today All-American Track and Field Team.
College Football Career
Marlon Humphrey planned to play both football and track at Alabama. He took a "redshirt" year in 2014, meaning he practiced but didn't play in games. In 2015, he became a starting cornerback.
2015 Season Highlights
Marlon started as a cornerback in his very first game for Alabama. He had 3 interceptions that season, which was second-best on the team. He was a key part of Alabama's strong defense.
The team won their 16th national championship. Marlon made a very important play in that game. He recovered an onside kick in the fourth quarter. This helped his team win the CFP National Championship.
2016 Season and NFL Draft
After a great first season, Marlon became a first-team All-American in 2016. He started the 2016 season with an interception that he returned for a touchdown. He played in 14 games that year.
Marlon continued to play very well against other teams' receivers. After this impressive season, he decided to leave college early. He entered the NFL draft to become a professional player.

Professional NFL Career
Before the NFL Draft, experts thought Marlon would be a top pick. He was seen as one of the best cornerbacks available.
Joining the Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens chose Marlon Humphrey in the first round of the 2017 NFL draft. He was the 16th player picked overall. He was the second cornerback chosen in that draft.
On May 5, 2017, Marlon signed a four-year contract with the Ravens. He started his first regular season game in Week 5. In Week 11, he made his first career interception against the Green Bay Packers. He finished his first year with 34 tackles, 11 pass deflections, and two interceptions.
2018 Season Performance
In 2018, Marlon became a starting cornerback for the Ravens. He played in 14 games and started 8 of them. He had 37 tackles, forced one fumble, and led the team with 15 pass deflections. He also had two interceptions.
2019: All-Pro and Pro Bowl Year

In 2019, Marlon changed his jersey number from 29 to 44. This was so a new teammate, Earl Thomas, could have number 29.
He had a fantastic year in 2019. In Week 5, he forced a fumble and recovered it. This play helped the Ravens win the game with a last-minute field goal. In Week 7, he scored his first NFL touchdown by returning a fumble 18 yards. Two weeks later, he scored another touchdown by returning a fumble 70 yards. This was the longest fumble return for a touchdown in Ravens history!
At the end of the 2019 season, Marlon was named to the Pro Bowl. He also earned a first-team All-Pro honor. This means he was recognized as one of the best players in the entire NFL.
2020 Season and Contract Extension

In 2020, the Ravens signed Marlon to a big contract extension. It was for five years and $97.5 million. In Week 5, he got his first full sack on a quarterback. He also forced a fumble that his teammate returned for a touchdown.
Marlon was briefly placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list but returned quickly. He was ranked 38th among all NFL players by his fellow players in 2021.
2021 Season Injury
On December 5, 2021, Marlon suffered a serious injury. He tore a muscle in his chest during a game. This injury ended his season early. He finished the year with 58 tackles, one interception, and 13 pass deflections.
2022 Season Return
Marlon returned to his starting role for the 2022 season. In Week 1, he had seven tackles and recovered a fumble. He got his first interception of the year in Week 3. The next week, he had another interception. He was ranked 92nd among all NFL players by his fellow players in 2023.
2023 Season and Injury
Marlon missed the start of the 2023 season because of a foot injury. He needed surgery for it. He played in ten games that season. He finished with 26 tackles, one interception, and five passes defended.
2024 Season Highlights
In Week 5 of the 2024 season, Marlon had an interception that helped the Ravens win. In Week 7, he had two interceptions in the first half of a game. He then left the game due to a knee injury.
In Week 16, Marlon picked off a pass and returned it for a touchdown. This was his first "pick-six" (interception returned for a touchdown) in his career. He played in 16 games this season. He had a career-high 6 interceptions and 15 pass deflections. He was named to his fourth Pro Bowl and was also a first-team All-Pro as a slot cornerback.
