Fabio Bartolo Rizzo (born on May 22, 1979), known as Marracash, is a famous Italian rapper, singer, songwriter, and music producer. He started his music journey with the rap group Dogo Gang. Later, he became a solo artist and grew very popular in the 2010s.
Marracash has released six studio albums that made it to the top ten on the Italian Albums Chart. Two of these albums, Santeria (2016) and Persona (2019), even reached the number one spot! He has also released many hit songs and worked with other artists. Seventeen of his songs have been in the top ten on the Italian Singles Chart.
Thanks to his amazing work, Marracash has sold over 5 million copies of his music in Italy. This makes him one of the best-selling Italian rappers of the 2010s. He has collaborated with many artists, including other rappers like Gué Pequeno, J-Ax, Fabri Fibra, Emis Killa, Club Dogo, and Baby K. He has also worked with pop singers such as Tiziano Ferro, Elisa, Giusy Ferreri, Federica Abbate, and Elodie.
In 2013, Marracash teamed up with producer Shablo to create their own independent music label called Roccia Music. This label helps both new and experienced rap artists, producers, and DJs. From 2012 to 2014, he also hosted a TV show on MTV Italy called MTV Spit, which was all about rap battles.

About Marracash's Early Life
Fabio Rizzo Bartolo was born in Nicosia, Italy. His mother worked as a custodian, and his father was a truck driver. He has a younger brother. When he was young, his family moved from Sicily to Milan. They lived in a house in Bramante.
When he was ten, his family had to move again. They went to the suburbs of Barona, where he grew up. Marracash still lives there today.
After finishing school as an electronics technician, Fabio started recording his first rap songs. He used the name Yuza delle Nuvole. He appeared in a song called "The Royal Rumble" in 1999. Later, he chose the stage name Marracash. This name came from a childhood nickname, "Marocchino" (meaning Moroccan in Italian). It was a playful joke about his Sicilian background.
Marracash's Music Career
Marracash's music career officially began in 2004. He was part of a mixtape called PMC VS Club Dogo – the official Mixtape. This project was a collaboration between the Club Dogo group and the Massive Crew Portion. In the same year, the Dogo Gang collective was formed. Marracash became a strong member of this group. He also appeared on the Regular album by Club Dogo and Hashishinz Sound Vol. 1 by Gué Pequeno and Deleterio.
In 2005, Marracash released a single called "Popolare". It was produced by Don Joe and was available for free online. This song was a preview for his mixtape Roccia Music I. Many artists from the Dogo Gang and other guests like Inoki and Co'Sang worked on this mixtape.
First Solo Album and Early Success
In June 2008, Marracash released his first solo album, also called Marracash. It was released by Universal Music. The album reached number nine on the Italian Albums Chart and earned a gold award. Famous artists like Gué Pequeno, J-Ax, Vincenzo da Via Anfossi, and Jake La Furia were featured on the album. Two singles from the album became popular: "Badabum Cha Cha", which was his first top ten hit, and "Estate in città".
In 2009, Marracash joined 55 other Italian singers to create "Domani 21/04.2009". This song was released to raise money for the victims of the 2009 L'Aquila earthquake. Later that year, he released "Cani pazzi". This song was a preview for his second album, Fino a qui tutto bene, which came out on July 13, 2010. This album featured collaborations with Giusy Ferreri on "Rivincita" and Fabri Fibra on "Stupidi".
King of Rap and Roccia Music
In September 2011, Marracash released the song "King of rap". This song was a preview for his album of the same name, which came out in October. The album debuted at number three on the FIMI chart and received a platinum award. In 2012, he released "Giusto un giro" with Emis Killa. He also announced the start of his own record label, La Roccia Music. On December 22, Marracash hosted the first episode of MTV Spit. This TV show was all about rap battles between underground artists.
After releasing the group album Genesis with artists from Roccia Music in 2013, Marracash released his fourth studio album, Status, on January 20, 2015. This album reached number two on the Italian Albums Chart and number 32 on the Swiss Charts. Singles from this album included the title track "Status", "Senza un posto nel mondo" with Tiziano Ferro, "In radio", and "Niente canzoni d'amore" with Federica Abbate.
Santeria and Persona
In 2016, Marracash announced he was releasing an album with Gué Pequeno. The album, called Santeria, came out on June 24 of that year. It had fifteen songs and became his first number one album. The first single, "Nulla accade", was released on June 7. It earned a double platinum award and reached number 16 on the Italian Singles Chart.
After celebrating the 10th anniversary of his first album, Marracash released a song with singer Elodie called "Margarita" on June 12, 2019. This song reached number nine on the Singles Chart and sold over 100,000 copies in Italy. On October 31, 2019, his sixth album, Persona, was released. This album hit number one on the FIMI Chart and received a double platinum award. It included several hit singles like "Marylean" with Salmo and Nitro, "Crudelia - I nervi", and his number one song "Supreme - L'ego".
On March 6, 2020, he released a new song called "Neon - Le Ali" featuring Italian songwriter Elisa. It reached number five on the Italian Singles Chart. In 2020, Marracash also worked with Dardust on "Defuera" and released "Sport - I muscoli", which reached number three on the Italian Chart.
Noi, loro, gli altri and Recent Work
On November 17, 2021, Marracash surprised everyone by announcing his seventh studio album, Noi, loro, gli altri (Us, Them, The Others), on Instagram. It was released just two days later. The album has fourteen songs and was produced by Zef and Marz. It features three guest artists: Gué Pequeno, Calcutta, and Blanco. The first song released from the album was "Crazy Love", which also had a music video starring his ex-girlfriend Elodie.
Music Style and Influences
In a TV interview in 2008, Marracash shared that he used to listen to bands like Metallica and 883 when he was a child. He gets inspiration from many American artists such as Jay-Z, Drake, Kanye West, DJ Khaled, Nas, Kendrick Lamar, and Wu-Tang Clan. From Italy, he looks up to Frankie Hi-NRG MC.
Personal Life
From 2019 to 2021, Marracash was in a relationship with singer Elodie.
