Maryhill (Ward 15) is one of 23 special areas called wards in Glasgow. These wards help to divide the city into smaller parts for local government. Each ward elects people called councillors to represent the area on the Glasgow City Council.
The Maryhill ward was first created in 2007. Back then, it was known as Maryhill/Kelvin and elected four councillors. In 2017, the boundaries of the ward changed. It became smaller, was renamed simply Maryhill, and now elects three councillors.

Maryhill's Location and Area
Maryhill ward is in the very north of Glasgow. It shares a border with East Dunbartonshire to the north. The ward includes the historic area of Maryhill itself, along with the Wyndford housing estate.
The River Kelvin forms its western edge, and the Port Dundas branch of the Forth and Clyde Canal is on its eastern side. Other neighbourhoods within the ward include Maryhill Park, Summerston, Gilshochill, Acre, and Dawsholm. These are all located north of the main canal.
Changes to the Ward Boundaries
In 2017, some parts of the Maryhill ward moved to other wards. For example, the Cadder area became part of the Canal ward. Also, some streets from North Kelvinside were added to Maryhill. These streets are north-west of Queen Margaret Drive, which is now the southern border of Maryhill.
At the same time, the areas of Kelvindale and Kelvinside were moved out of Maryhill. They became part of a new ward called Partick East/Kelvindale.
