Mason, also known as Mason City, is a town in Mason County, West Virginia, United States. In 2020, about 865 people lived there. It is part of the Point Pleasant, West Virginia, and Ohio area.
Mason was first called Waggener's Bottom. It became an official town in 1856. The town was named after Mason County. The county itself was named for George Mason, an important person who helped create the U.S. Constitution.
History of Mason
Mason has some interesting old buildings. Two of them, called The Gold Houses and Shumaker-Lewis House, are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This means they are important historical sites.
