Matthew "Matty" James Matheson (born February 7, 1982) is a Canadian chef, restaurateur, actor, and internet personality. He is famous for his energetic personality and his popular restaurants. Many people also know him as the actor who plays the handyman Neil Fak on the TV series The Bear.
Matheson was the head chef at Parts & Labour, a well-known restaurant in Toronto, Ontario, until it closed in 2019. Since then, he has opened several new places. These include Matty's Patty's Burger Club and the fancy Prime Seafood Palace in Toronto.
He became famous online by appearing on the Vice show Munchies. He also hosted his own shows, It's Suppertime! and Dead Set on Life.

Early Life and First Steps in Cooking
Matty Matheson was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. His father, Stephen, was an engineer, and his mother, Joan, was a waitress. His family has deep roots in Prince Edward Island, going back to the 1700s.
His grandfather was also a restaurateur and owned The Blue Goose restaurant. Matty spent his summers there, which sparked his early interest in cooking. When he was 11, his family moved to Fort Erie, Ontario.
In 2000, Matheson moved to Toronto to study in the cooking program at Humber College. He discovered he was very good at butchering meat. He was so eager to start his career that he began handing out his resume to restaurants all over the city until he got a job.
Career as a Chef and TV Star
Learning to Cook
Matheson's first major job was at Le Sélect Bistro in Toronto in 2003. There, chef Rang Nguyen taught him all about French cooking techniques. In 2006, he moved to another restaurant called La Palette.
By 2010, he became the executive chef at a new restaurant, Parts & Labour. His fun and energetic personality got him noticed, and he was invited to appear on the online food show Munchies. This was the start of his journey to becoming a star.
Becoming a TV Personality
After his success on Munchies, Matheson began hosting his own TV shows, including Dead Set on Life and It's Suppertime!. He also started his own popular YouTube channel where he shares recipes and cooking tips.
He has even appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where he showed the host how to make a special family recipe.
In 2022, Matheson's career took another exciting turn when he joined the hit TV show The Bear. He acts in the show as Neil Fak. He also works behind the scenes as a producer and a culinary consultant, helping to make the show's kitchen scenes look realistic.
Opening His Own Restaurants
Matheson has opened many successful restaurants. In 2020, he started Matty's Patty's, a burger spot that became so popular it now has a permanent location in Toronto.
In 2022, he opened Prime Seafood Palace, a high-end steakhouse and seafood restaurant that he had been planning since 2016. That same year, he opened Rizzo's House of Parm in Fort Erie. This restaurant serves classic Italian-American cuisine and is inspired by his wife's family. It is named after their daughter, Rizzo.
He has also partnered with other chefs to create restaurants that serve Mexican cuisine and Vietnamese cuisine. All of his restaurants are part of his company, Our House Hospitality Company.

Farming, Fashion, and Music
In 2020, Matheson started Blue Goose Farm in Fort Erie. The farm is named after his grandfather's restaurant. It grows vegetables for his restaurants and other local businesses.
He also launched a clothing line called Rosa Rugosa, which makes workwear.
In 2025, Matheson formed a hardcore punk band called Pig Pen with musicians Wade MacNeil and Daniel Romano.
Personal Life
In his late twenties, Matheson had a serious health scare due to an unhealthy lifestyle. This event made him decide to change his life for the better. He focused on his health and well-being.
Matheson married his wife, Trish Spencer, in 2014. They have three children together.
