Stratford is a town in Garvin County, Oklahoma, United States. Before Oklahoma became a state in 1907, the town was part of the Chickasaw Nation. This area was known as Indian Territory. Many peach orchards grow in and around Stratford. In 2020, about 1,405 people lived in the town.

History of Stratford
Stratford was first called McGee. It was started in 1891. At that time, it was part of Pickens County in the Chickasaw Nation. This was a large area of land called Indian Territory.
In 1906, the Oklahoma Central Railroad built new train tracks. These tracks were about two miles south of McGee. The people of McGee decided to move their whole town closer to the railroad. They put their buildings on wagons and rolled them down to the new spot.
The new town was first named Walling. But by October 1906, its name was changed to Stratford.
Annual Festivals and Events
Stratford is famous as the "Peach Capital of the World." Every year, the town holds its Peach Festival. This fun event takes place on the third Saturday in July. The festival has been a tradition since 1976.
Stratford also hosts an annual rodeo and a car show. The rodeo is even older than the Peach Festival. It has been happening since 1936.
Geography and Landscape
Stratford is located in Oklahoma. It sits about halfway between the towns of Pauls Valley and Ada. You can find it where State Highway 19 crosses U.S. Highway 177.
The town covers about 1.0 square mile (2.6 square kilometers) of land. There is no water area within the town limits.

Stratford is in a part of Oklahoma known for its rolling hills. These hills can be 250 to 400 feet (76 to 122 meters) high. The area also has oak forests and flat, rich plains.
A very important part of Stratford's landscape is its peach orchards. There are more than 400 acres (162 hectares) of peach orchards in and around the town.
