Media Aqua Creek is a small stream in central California. It flows through parts of Kern County and San Luis Obispo County. The creek was originally called Aguaje de en Media, which means "Middle Watering Place" in Spanish.
The creek starts in the Temblor Range mountains. Its source is an unnamed spring in San Luis Obispo County. This spot is about 0.8 miles south of the border with Kern County. From there, Media Aqua Creek flows towards the east-northeast. It ends in the San Joaquin Valley, about 3 miles southeast of a place once known as Twisselmann Ranch.
History of El Camino Viejo
Media Aqua Creek was once a very important stop. It served as a watering place on an old trail called El Camino Viejo. This trail was used in the 1800s in Alta California, which is now part of California.
Travelers on El Camino Viejo would stop at Media Aqua Creek to get water. It was located between two other watering stops. To the south was Arroyo de Los Carneros. To the west was Aguaje Del Diablo.
The creek's official name became Media Aqua Creek in 1909.
