History of Melvern
Melvern was founded in 1870. It got its name from the beautiful Malvern Hills in Worcestershire, England. The first post office opened in Melvern in June 1870, helping people send and receive mail.

Before this school district was formed, Melvern had its own high school. The Melvern High School teams were called the Panthers. The Melvern Panthers boys' basketball team won the Kansas State High School Class B championship in 1962.
