Mettau was a small town, also known as a municipality, located in Switzerland. It was part of the Laufenburg district in the canton of Aargau. Think of a canton like a state or a larger region within a country.
What Happened to Mettau?
On January 1, 2010, Mettau joined with four other nearby municipalities. These were Hottwil, Etzgen, Oberhofen, and Wil. They all merged together to form a new, larger municipality called Mettauertal. This means they combined their local governments and became one bigger community.
