Hottwil was once a small town, known as a municipality, located in Switzerland. It was part of the Brugg district in the canton of Aargau. Think of a canton like a state or a large region within a country.
What Happened to Hottwil?
On January 1, 2010, Hottwil joined with several other nearby municipalities. These included Etzgen, Mettau, Oberhofen, and Wil. Together, they formed a brand new municipality called Mettauertal.
A New Home in a New District
Because of this merger, Hottwil also moved to a different district. It transferred from the Brugg district to the Laufenburg district. This means that while Hottwil is now part of a larger community, its location within Switzerland is still the same.
