About Wil: A Swiss Village
Wil was a municipality (a type of town or village) in the Laufenburg district. This district is part of the canton (like a state) of Aargau in Switzerland. It was located in the north-east of the Fricktal region. This area is about 3 kilometers (less than 2 miles) from the German border.
On January 1, 2010, Wil joined with several other nearby towns. These towns were Hottwil, Etzgen, Mettau, and Oberhofen. They all merged to form a new, larger municipality called Mettauertal. So, Wil is no longer a separate town on its own.
