Michael Ealy was born in Washington, D.C.. He grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland. He went to Springbrook High School. Later, he studied at the University of Maryland. He earned a degree in English in 1996. His mother worked for IBM, and his father was in the grocery business.
Michael Ealy's Acting Career
Michael Ealy began acting in the late 1990s. He performed in several plays that were not on Broadway. His first movie roles included Bad Company and Kissing Jessica Stein.
Breakthrough Roles in Movies
His big break came in 2002 with the movie Barbershop. In this film, he played Ricky Nash, a character who had changed his life. He played Ricky again in the sequel, Barbershop 2: Back in Business, in 2004.
In 2003, he appeared as Slap Jack in 2 Fast 2 Furious. This was the second movie in the Fast and the Furious series. He also appeared in Mariah Carey's music video for her song "Get Your Number" in 2005.

In 2005, Ealy co-starred in the TV movie Their Eyes Were Watching God. This movie was produced by Oprah Winfrey and Quincy Jones. He also starred in the TV series Sleeper Cell from 2005 to 2006. For his role in Sleeper Cell, he was nominated for a Golden Globe Award in 2006.

In October 2012, Michael Ealy married Khatira Rafiqzada. She is an entrepreneur from Afghanistan. They had been together for four years before getting married in Los Angeles. They have a son and a daughter.
Michael Ealy is a big fan of the Washington Commanders football team. He also supports the Democratic political party. In 2024, he publicly supported Angela Alsobrooks for the Senate election in Maryland.
