Playing for Clubs
Michael Konsel was born in Vienna, Austria. He started his professional football journey with First Vienna. In 1985, he moved to a bigger club in Vienna, Rapid Wien.
Success with Rapid Wien
Konsel became a key player for Rapid Wien in the 1980s. He helped them win the Austrian League title two times. He also played in two major European finals. In 1985, Rapid Wien reached the UEFA Cup Winners Cup Final. They played against Everton in Rotterdam and lost 3-1.
He stayed with Rapid Wien for 12 years, which is a very long time for a player. In his last two seasons, he was the team's captain. In 1996, he played in the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup Final again. This time, Rapid Wien lost 1-0 to Paris Saint-Germain in Brussels.
Moving to Italy
