Mila Jam's Career

YouTube and TV Fame

Mila Jam first became well-known as a popular YouTube star named "Britney Houston." She was famous for making funny versions, called parodies, of popular music videos. She would often post her parodies just days after the original videos were released. She started creating these videos while she was touring with the musical Rent.

Many of her parodies became very popular. Her parody of Rihanna's song "Umbrella" received over two million views! For her parody of the Pussycat Dolls' song "When I Grow Up," Mila Jam invited four drag queens to join her. They were called the "Britney Cat Dolls." In 2008, she also choreographed and starred in an MTV television pilot called Newsical.

Mila Jam has appeared on TV shows like BBC Three's Lily Allen and Friends and on MTV. She has also hosted episodes of the YouTube talk show I’m From Driftwood.

This video featured appearances by many well-known people, such as Laverne Cox, Tituss Burgess, and Peppermint. The song "Faces" is seen as an anthem for the LGBTQ movement. It talks about accepting yourself, finding your inner beauty, and feeling like you belong. Mila Jam said the song is about looking in the mirror and wondering, "Am I enough? Will someone love me for who I really am?" She explained that people often hide their fears, even when they smile. The message of the song is for everyone, no matter who they are.
