Milan Borjan (born 23 October 1987) is a professional soccer player. He plays as a goalkeeper for Saudi Pro League club Al-Riyadh. Milan Borjan was born in Yugoslavia. He plays for the Canada national team.

Early Life and Moving to Canada
Milan Borjan was born on October 23, 1987, in Knin. This area was part of former Yugoslavia, now Croatia. His parents are of Serb background. He started playing soccer with the Dinara Knin youth team.
In 1995, his family moved to Belgrade due to a conflict called Operation Storm. There, he played for FK Radnički Beograd. In 2000, his family moved to Canada. They first lived in Winnipeg, Manitoba and then settled in Hamilton, Ontario. He continued playing youth soccer with local clubs like East Hamilton SC and Mount Hamilton SC.
Milan Borjan's Club Career
Starting Out in Soccer
In 2005, Borjan tried out for Boca Juniors, a famous club in Argentina. He didn't sign a contract there. In 2006, he joined Club Nacional de Football in Uruguay. He played for their youth team. Later, he had a trial with another Argentine club, Club Atlético River Plate. His last team in South America was Quilmes in 2008.
Playing for Rad
In January 2009, Borjan returned to Serbia. He signed with FK Rad, a club in Belgrade. He started as the third-choice goalkeeper. But soon, due to issues with other keepers, he became the main goalkeeper. He played his first game on August 16, 2009. By 2010, he was a regular starter. His team finished fourth in the league. This earned them a spot in the 2011–12 UEFA Europa League qualifying rounds.
Moving to Sivasspor
After playing in the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup, Borjan joined Sivasspor, a Turkish club. He made his debut on September 11, 2011.
Loan to Vaslui
Borjan was loaned to SC Vaslui, a Romanian club. He became their starting goalkeeper. He played 16 games and had seven clean sheets. This helped Vaslui get a spot in the UEFA Champions League.
Back to Sivasspor
After his successful loan, Borjan returned to Sivasspor. He became a starter again in September 2012. In February 2014, his contract with Sivasspor ended.
Time with Ludogorets Razgrad
On September 12, 2014, Borjan joined PFC Ludogorets Razgrad in Bulgaria. The club had already qualified for the 2014–15 UEFA Champions League group stage. Four days later, he played his first game for them. This was a Champions League match against Liverpool F.C.. He was the first Canadian to play in the Champions League group stage since 2007. Ludogorets released him shortly after.
Playing for Radnički Niš
On February 15, 2015, Borjan signed with FK Radnički Niš in Serbia. He debuted on February 23 with a 0–0 draw. He had three clean sheets in a row.
Return to Ludogorets Razgrad
Borjan returned to Ludogorets on June 2, 2015. He signed a three-year deal. He became the starting goalkeeper after another player got injured.
Loan to Korona Kielce
On February 15, 2017, Borjan was loaned to Korona Kielce in Poland. He played 14 league games and had five clean sheets.
Years with Red Star Belgrade

Borjan joined Red Star Belgrade on July 24, 2017. He signed a three-year contract. He made his debut on July 27, keeping a clean sheet. In his second season, he helped Red Star qualify for the 2018–19 UEFA Champions League. He had two clean sheets in the group stage. One was against Napoli and another in a 2–0 win against Liverpool.
In February 2019, Red Star announced Borjan would extend his contract until 2023. He was named the club's athlete of the year. On May 23, 2022, Borjan even scored a penalty for Red Star. This happened in their final game of the 2021–22 Serbian SuperLiga. The club won their fifth straight title. In July 2022, he signed another contract extension until 2026.
In June 2023, Borjan learned he would no longer be the first-choice goalkeeper. In June 2024, he and Red Star Belgrade agreed to end his contract.
Loan to Slovan Bratislava
In June 2023, Borjan joined Slovan Bratislava in Slovakia on loan.

Milan Borjan's International Career

Borjan was first called to the Canada national team in 2010. He made his debut on February 10, 2011, in a game against Greece. That summer, he played in the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup. He debuted in the Gold Cup on June 11, 2011.
Since late 2012, Borjan has been Canada's main goalkeeper. He played in the 2013, 2017, and 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cups. In a 2018 World Cup qualifying match, he received a red card.
Borjan was key for Canada in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. He made a crucial save in a 2–1 win against Mexico. This was Canada's first win against Mexico in 21 years. He also had a clean sheet in a 2–0 win against the United States. Canada Soccer named him player of the month for January. On November 13, 2022, Borjan was chosen for Canada's team for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. During a match against Croatia, some Croatian fans made negative comments towards him. Canada Soccer filed a complaint with FIFA about this.
In June 2023, Borjan was part of Canada's team for the 2023 CONCACAF Nations League Finals. Canada finished second to the United States. He was also named to the squad for the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup. He left the team early due to an injury.
Milan Borjan's Personal Life
Milan Borjan is married to Snežana Filipović. She is the sister of another footballer, Nenad Filipović. Milan has a younger sister, Nikolija, and a younger brother, Nikola, who is also a goalkeeper. Milan Borjan can speak English, Bulgarian, Spanish, and Serbian.
