Miles Gordon Robinson (born March 14, 1997) is an American professional soccer player. He plays as a center-back for the Major League Soccer team FC Cincinnati. Miles also plays for the United States national team. A center-back is a defender who plays in the middle of the field. Their main job is to stop the other team from scoring goals.
Miles was born in Arlington, Massachusetts. He started his soccer journey with FC Boston Bolts. Later, he played college soccer for the Syracuse Orange. After two years at Syracuse, he was picked second overall in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft. This is a special event where professional soccer teams choose new players. Miles joined the new team Atlanta United.
At first, Miles didn't play much for Atlanta. He was loaned to other teams like the Charleston Battery and Atlanta United 2. But by 2019, he became a regular starter for Atlanta United. He also made his first appearance for the United States in 2019. In 2021, he helped the U.S. team win the CONCACAF Gold Cup. He scored the winning goal in the final against Mexico.

Miles Robinson's Early Life
Miles Robinson grew up in Arlington, Massachusetts. He became interested in soccer by watching his older sister, Rebecca, play. He started playing organized soccer when he was four years old.
Miles went to Arlington High School. There, he played for the school's basketball team. In his junior year, he was a top player. His basketball coach, John Bowler, said Miles was very smart on the court. He praised Miles's ability to change speeds and trick opponents.
For soccer, Miles played for the youth team FC Boston Bolts. This meant he could not play for his high school soccer team. Brian Ainscough, who led the Bolts, noticed Miles's talent early on. He described Miles as a tall kid with big feet, like "Bambi," but very skilled.
College Soccer Journey
In 2015, Miles decided to play college soccer at Syracuse University. He joined the Orange team. He played his first game on August 28, 2015. He scored his first goal for Syracuse on September 19.
As a freshman, Miles played in all 25 matches for Syracuse. He scored four goals. His team did very well, reaching the NCAA Tournament and the "College Cup." The College Cup is like the final four for college soccer. Syracuse lost in a penalty shootout in the semifinals.
In his second year, Miles was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year. He played in all 17 matches and scored four more goals. Syracuse again made it to the NCAA Tournament. Miles was also named to a top national college soccer team.
Professional Club Career
Starting with FC Boston
After his first year of college, Miles played for FC Boston. This was a semi-professional team linked to his youth club. He played six matches for them in 2016. He was recognized as a top defender among college players.
Joining Atlanta United
In 2017, Miles decided to leave college early to play professional soccer. He signed a special contract with Major League Soccer. On January 13, 2017, he was picked second overall in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft by Atlanta United.
Miles didn't play much for Atlanta United at first. He was loaned to the Charleston Battery, another professional team. He made his professional debut there and scored his first goal. He also played a U.S. Open Cup match for Atlanta United against Charleston. The U.S. Open Cup is a yearly soccer tournament for teams across different leagues in the U.S.
In 2018, Miles was loaned to Atlanta United 2, Atlanta's reserve team. He also started to get more chances with the main Atlanta United team. He played in 14 matches that year. In 2019, Miles became a key player for Atlanta United. He played in 33 out of 34 regular season matches. He scored his first goal for the club in the U.S. Open Cup.
