Mitatut Lake is a cool glacial lake found in Manitoba, Canada. It's located about 21 kilometers (13 miles) northeast of a place called Bakers Narrows. This lake is part of the Mistik Creek system.

Mitatut Lake is also part of a much bigger water system called the Nelson River watershed. This means its water eventually flows into the Hudson Bay. The area around the lake is in the Northern Region of Manitoba. You'll find a mix of trees here, like pine and spruce, which are part of the Midwestern Canadian Shield forests.

The land around Mitatut Lake was shaped by ancient glaciers. It has rocky ridges and wet, marshy areas called muskeg. The lake's shoreline is also uneven and stony because of all that ice movement long ago. If you love canoeing, Mitatut Lake is on a famous route called the "Mistik Creek Loop." This exciting trip is 80 kilometers (50 miles) long and usually takes about four days to paddle!

What Does Mitatut Mean?

Mitatut Lake has a special name. It comes from the Cree language, and "Mitatut" means "ten." This lake is unique because it's one of fourteen lakes along Mistik Creek that are named in order using Cree numbers!
