Payukosap Lake is a beautiful glacial lake located in Manitoba, Canada. It is found about 23 kilometres (14 mi) northeast of Bakers Narrows. This lake is part of the Mistik Creek system, which flows into the Nelson River. The Nelson River then carries water all the way to Hudson Bay.

The area around Payukosap Lake is covered by a mix of trees, including both leafy (deciduous) and cone-bearing (coniferous) types. This forest is part of a larger region called the Churchill River Upland. The land here has rocky ridges and wet, marshy areas known as muskeg, created by ancient glaciers. The lake's edges are also uneven and stony because of these glaciers.

Payukosap Lake is a popular spot for canoeists. It's part of the "Mistik Creek Loop," a famous canoe route that is 80 kilometres (50 mi) long. Adventurers can paddle this route in about four days.

What Does Payukosap Mean?

The name "Payukosap" comes from the Cree language. It means "eleven." This lake is special because it's one of fourteen lakes along Mistik Creek that are named in order using Cree numbers.
