Mona Freeman (born June 9, 1926 – died May 23, 2014) was an American actress and artist. She became famous as a teenage movie star. Later in her life, she also became a talented painter.

Early Life and First Steps to Fame
Mona Freeman was born in Baltimore, Maryland. She grew up in a town called Pelham, New York. Her father worked with lumber.
When she was in high school, Mona worked as a model. In 1940, she was chosen as the very first "Miss Subways" for the New York City subway system. This was a big honor!
Becoming a Star
After moving to Hollywood, Mona Freeman signed a contract with Paramount Pictures. She later signed another movie contract with Howard Hughes.
Her contract was then sold back to Paramount Pictures. Mona's first movie was Till We Meet Again in 1944. She quickly became a very popular teenage movie star.
Mona often played pretty, innocent teenagers in her films. She sometimes felt like she was always given the same kind of role.
As Mona grew older, her film career slowed down. She mostly appeared in "B-movies," which are smaller films. However, she did star in the movie Angel Face (1952). She also acted alongside the famous comedy team of Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis in the hit movie Jumping Jacks.
Television Roles and Painting Career
Mona Freeman stopped appearing in movies in the 1950s. But she continued to work a lot in television!
She appeared in many TV shows, including seven times on The United States Steel Hour. She also had three guest roles on Perry Mason. In all three of these episodes, she played a client of the main character, Perry Mason.
Mona also appeared in two episodes of Wanted: Dead or Alive with Steve McQueen. She was in two episodes of Maverick with James Garner. In Maverick, she played a character named Modesty Blaine.
After 1961, Mona Freeman focused more on her painting. She became a portrait painter. One of her most famous paintings is a portrait of Mary See, who started See's Candies.
Family Life and Later Years
Mona Freeman married Pat Nerney, a car dealer, in Los Angeles in 1945. They had one daughter, also named Mona. They later divorced in 1952.
In 1961, Mona married H. Jack Ellis, who was a businessman from Los Angeles.
Mona Freeman passed away on May 23, 2014, at the age of 87. She died at her home in Beverly Hills, California, after a long illness.
