Martyn Bernard "Moochie" Norris was born on July 27, 1973. He is an American who used to play professional basketball. He played for many years in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and other leagues. Today, he is a coach for the Houston Push team in The Basketball League (TBL).
Moochie Norris's Basketball Journey
Moochie Norris played college basketball at a few different schools. He played at Odessa College from 1992 to 1994. Then he went to Auburn University for one year, from 1994 to 1995. His last college team was the University of West Florida from 1995 to 1996.
In 1996, the Milwaukee Bucks picked him in the NBA draft. He was the 33rd player chosen overall. Even though he was drafted, he did not play for the Bucks. Later that year, he signed with the Vancouver Grizzlies.
After playing briefly for the Grizzlies, Norris spent time with the Fort Wayne Fury in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). He was recognized as one of the best new players in the CBA in 1997. He later earned honors as one of the top players in the league in 1998 and 2000.
Norris played in the NBA from 1999 until the 2005–06 season. He played for teams like the Seattle SuperSonics, Houston Rockets, New York Knicks, and New Orleans Hornets.
Playing in Other Leagues
After his time in the NBA, Moochie Norris continued to play basketball. In 2007, he joined the Yakama Sun Kings in the CBA for a short time. He also played for an Italian team called Climamio Bologna that same year.
In November 2007, he returned to the Yakama Sun Kings. He was a top player there, leading the league in assists. He was also named to the All-CBA First Team again in 2008.
Playing in the Big3 League
In 2017, Moochie Norris was chosen to play in the Big3 league. This league features 3-on-3 basketball with many former NBA players. He was picked by the team called Power. Later, he was traded to another Big3 team, the Ball Hogs.
Coaching Young Players
After his playing career, Moochie Norris wanted to help young basketball players. He started training and coaching kids. He also helped the basketball coaches at Victory Preparatory Academy in Houston, Texas.
You can still find him in the Houston area, where he runs his own "Moochie" Norris Workouts. He teaches young athletes the skills he learned as a professional player.

Currently, Moochie Norris is the head coach for the Houston Push. This team plays in The Basketball League (TBL). He helps guide the team and develop their players.
Moochie's Personal Life
Moochie Norris got his unique nickname from his grandfather. His grandfather loved the song "Minnie the Moocher" by Cab Calloway, and that's how Moochie got his name.
During his basketball career, Moochie was known for his large afro hairstyle. In 2002, while he was with the Houston Rockets, a special bobblehead doll was made of him. It even had a synthetic afro, just like his!
