Mortal Kombat is an exciting fighting video game. It was made by NetherRealm Studios and released by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. This game is the ninth main title in the popular Mortal Kombat series.

The story of this game starts during the events of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. However, it then goes back in time to revisit the stories of the first three Mortal Kombat games. These include Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, and Mortal Kombat 3. The plot follows Raiden, Earth's protector god. He tries to change the future after losing to the evil emperor of Outworld, Shao Kahn. Raiden sends a message to his past self to warn him.

Even though characters and levels look three-dimensional, the game plays like the older 2D games. The camera stays to the side, making it feel like a classic fighting game. This style is often called 2.5D, mixing old and new looks.

The game first came out on April 19, 2011. It was available for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows. When it was released, Mortal Kombat got many great reviews. It also won several awards for being the best fighting game of the year.

A sequel to this game, called Mortal Kombat X, was later made by NetherRealm Studios. It was released in April 2015 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Gameplay Features

In Mortal Kombat, players can use a special energy meter. This meter lets them perform powerful techniques. One of these techniques is the unique X-Ray moves. These moves show a cool, detailed view of the damage being done to characters during a fight.
