History of Moscow Community
The Moscow community was first settled in the early 1830s. Peter Benson arrived in 1831, and Judge Lyman Blackmar followed in 1832. A post office opened in 1834. The name "Moscow" was chosen by Alonzo Kies, who came from another community named Moscow in Cayuga County, New York. Today, the Moscow community uses a special ZIP code (49257) just for post office box services. There isn't a physical post office building there anymore.

Rivers and Waterways
An important river, the south branch of the Kalamazoo River, actually starts in the southern part of Moscow Township. This means the water for this river begins its journey right here!

- U.S. Route 12, also known as E. Chicago Road, is a major highway that runs through the middle of the township from east to west.
