Mount Rogers is a very tall mountain located in Glacier National Park in British Columbia, Canada. It stands at about 3,169 meters (10,397 feet) high. This makes it the tallest mountain in the Hermit Range, which is part of the Selkirk Mountains.
You can easily see Mount Rogers from Highway 1, also known as the Trans-Canada Highway, especially when you are near Rogers Pass. Mount Rogers is actually a group of five peaks, not just one! These peaks are called Rogers Peak, Grant Peak, Fleming Peak, Swiss Peak, and Truda Peaks. Many glaciers, which are like huge, slow-moving rivers of ice, flow down from the mountain. Some of these are the Rogers Glacier, Swiss Glacier, Tupper Glacier, and Hermit Glacier.

History of Mount Rogers
How Mount Rogers Got Its Name
Mount Rogers was named after Major A.B. Rogers. He was an American surveyor who worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway. Major Rogers was the person who discovered Rogers Pass.
First Climbers to Reach the Top
The first time anyone successfully climbed Mount Rogers was on July 31, 1896. Three climbers made it to the top: Phillip S. Abbott, George T. Little, and Charles S. Thompson.
Official Recognition of the Name
The mountain's name became official in 1932. This happened when the Geographical Names Board of Canada approved it.

Mount Rogers has a subarctic climate. This means it has very cold and snowy winters. The summers are usually mild, not too hot.
Temperatures and Wind Chill
In winter, temperatures can drop below -20 degrees Celsius (-4 degrees Fahrenheit). With the wind, it can feel even colder, sometimes below -30 degrees Celsius (-22 degrees Fahrenheit).
Water Flow from the Mountain
The snow and ice that melt from the mountain drain into small streams. These streams then flow into the Beaver River.
