The Healing Waters of Muckadilla

In 1889, the Queensland Government drilled a special bore in Muckadilla. A bore is like a deep well that brings water from underground. The water found here was not a lot, but people believed it had special healing powers. Many people came to Muckadilla hoping to feel better.

A doctor from Brisbane, Dr. E.W. Kerr, even said the water helped his patients. He claimed it cured "stubborn joint pain." The baths with this water became very popular. In 1939, a plan was made to build a special health center there. This center would help people with joint pain, digestion problems, and general health.
