Early Life and Music Start
Shane Lindstrom grew up in Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada. His family loved music, and he played drums when he was a kid. When he was 17, still in high school, he started making beats. He used a computer program called FL Studio. He picked the name "Murda Beatz" to share his music on YouTube.
When he turned 18, he moved to Chicago. There, he worked with popular artists like Chief Keef and Lil Durk. Lindstrom met many of his first artists through social media and friends. Later, he connected with the rap group Migos from Atlanta. He even moved in with them to produce their music.
Becoming a Producer-Artist
Murda Beatz is special because he sometimes appears as an artist on the songs he produces. This is similar to how DJ Khaled or Mustard work. He decided to become a "producer-artist" to have more control over his music. This way, he could release songs when he wanted, instead of waiting for other artists.
He released his first mixtape, Keep God First, in December 2016. In the summer of 2018, he opened shows for G-Eazy on tour. His first single as a main artist, "Shopping Spree," came out in 2019. He released another single, "Banana Split," in March 2020. It featured YNW Melly and Lil Durk.
In 2019, Lindstrom started his own record label called Murda Beatz Recordings. He signed a singer named Adam Halliday to his label. In 2021, Forbes magazine recognized him in their "30 Under 30" list for music.
Personal Life
In June 2022, Lindstrom started dating Brazilian singer Anitta. They were together for about two months.
