Mutrux is a small town, also called a municipality, in Switzerland. It is located in the canton of Vaud. This town is part of the Jura-Nord Vaudois district.

Mutrux History: A Look Back in Time

Mutrux has a long history! It was first mentioned in old records way back in 1309. Back then, its name was spelled Mostrue. Later, in 1359, it was called Mustrueu.

Mutrux Geography: Land and Location

Mutrux covers an area of about 3.21 square kilometers (1.24 sq mi). A large part of this land, about 62.6%, is covered by forests. About 34.3% of the land is used for farming.

Only a small part, about 3.4%, has buildings or roads. Most of the forest is dense, covering 61.1% of the total area. The farming land is used for growing crops and for pastures where animals graze.

Mutrux used to be part of the Grandson District. That district was closed down on August 31, 2006. Mutrux then became part of the new Jura-Nord Vaudois district.

The town is located in the northeast part of the district. It sits at the bottom of a mountain called Mont Aubert. The towns of Concise, Corcelles-près-Concise, Mutrux, and Onnens are thinking about joining together. This merger might happen on January 1, 2014.
