Concise is a small town, also called a municipality, in Switzerland. It is located in the Jura-Nord Vaudois area of the canton of Vaud.

History of Concise
Concise was first mentioned in old records in the year 1179. Back then, its name was Concisa.
Geography of Concise
Concise covers an area of about 11.4 square kilometers (4.4 square miles). A large part of this land, about 66%, is covered by forests. About 24% of the land is used for farming. This includes fields for crops and pastures for animals.
Around 8.8% of Concise is made up of buildings and roads. A very small part, about 0.1%, includes rivers or lakes. The rest is land that cannot be used for farming or building.
Concise used to be part of the Grandson District. In 2006, it became part of the new Jura-Nord Vaudois district.
The town is located along the border with the Canton of Neuchatel. It stretches from the shores of Lake Neuchatel up to a mountain called Mont Aubert. Concise includes the main village, plus smaller areas called La Lance and La Raisse. There are also some small settlements high up in the Jura Mountains.
The towns of Concise, Corcelles-près-Concise, Mutrux, and Onnens have thought about joining together. They might form a new, larger town in the future.

Important Historical Sites
Concise is home to several important historical sites. These are recognized as heritage sites of national significance.
One such site is the Ancienne Chartreuse De La Lance. This was an old monastery. Another important place is a Roman era quarry at La Raisse/En Favarges. This is where stones were dug out long ago.
Also, the bay and lakeshore settlements of Sous-Colachoz are very old. These are neolithic (New Stone Age) and Bronze Age sites. The entire village of Concise and the La Lance area are also part of the Inventory of Swiss Heritage Sites.
