My Little Pony: Equestria Girls is a series of animated TV specials. They are based on the popular Hasbro toy line and media series of the same name. This series is a spin-off from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.

The specials show the main characters from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic as human teenagers. They all go to high school together. There are three specials, each about 22 minutes long. They first aired in the United States on Discovery Family in the summer of 2017. You might also know them as My Little Pony: Equestria Girls – Magical Movie Night or My Little Pony: Equestria Girls – Tales of Canterlot High.

Adventures at Canterlot High

These three specials follow the daily lives of the best students at Canterlot High School. These students are Twilight Sparkle, Sunset Shimmer, Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, and Rarity. Their adventures happen after the events of My Little Pony: Equestria Girls – Legend of Everfree.

The girls want to raise money to fix Camp Everfree. Rarity finds a music video contest with a big cash prize. She convinces her friends to enter and use their money for costumes. Students from Crystal Prep Academy also want to win to rent a yacht for their dance. They trick Rarity into sharing her music video idea. Rarity later sees the Crystal Prep students rehearsing with similar outfits. She realizes they stole her idea! Rarity feels sad, but then she hears the Crystal Prep students have no song. Rarity suggests they work together. Both groups create one amazing video, win the contest, and share the prize!
2 "Movie Magic" Ishi Rudell Noelle Benvenuti July 1, 2017 (2017-07-01)
The girls get to visit the set of a new Daring Do movie. The director, Canter Zoom, invited them for helping with their camp fundraiser. But trouble starts on set! The main actress has problems, a set piece breaks, and props go missing. The girls realize someone is trying to ruin the movie. They chase a mysterious person stealing props around the studio. They catch the culprit, who turns out to be Juniper Montage. She is Canter's niece and a production assistant. Juniper was jealous of the actress and wanted her to quit so she could take her place. Juniper is banned from the studio. The girls even get small roles in the movie for their help!
3 "Mirror Magic" Ishi Rudell Rachel Vine and Dave Polsky July 8, 2017 (2017-07-08)
Sunset Shimmer runs out of pages in her magic journal. She uses it to write to Princess Twilight in Equestria. So, she goes back home to Equestria to get a new one. There, Sunset meets Starlight Glimmer, who is Twilight's student. Starlight is curious about the human world. She convinces Sunset to take her for a visit. Meanwhile, Juniper Montage finds a magic hand mirror. It shows her reflection as a famous movie star. Juniper is still mad at the girls for outshining her. She discovers the mirror can trap people inside! She uses it on Sunset's friends. Sunset also gets trapped when she returns with Starlight. The girls' geode pendants combine their magic, turning Juniper into a giant monster. The mirror cracks during Juniper's rampage. The world inside the mirror starts to fall apart. Starlight helps Juniper understand that friendship is important. Juniper releases the girls before they fall into the void. Juniper returns to normal, and the girls forgive her. Princess Twilight lets Starlight stay in the human world a bit longer.

Where to Watch

The three specials were shown weekly in Poland on Teletoon+ in May 2017. You could also buy them on DVD in August 2017. The DVD was called My Little Pony: Equestria Girls – Magical Movie Night. Later, in October 2017, the specials became available on Netflix. On Netflix, they were called My Little Pony: Equestria Girls – Tales of Canterlot High.
